I have been coming to The Chateau for yrs. New management now but I feel the place was run better previously. Especially with maintaining the facilities like the jakoozi and spa. Room was fine, broken lamp shade and everything so out dated they just don't wish to change anything but make money off it?
However, perfect lil hotel right on the beach, immaculate location with all at your feet to see at Surfers. Great pool, gaming room, sauna and spa, jakoozi the Best in GC! From the heating to correct bubble levels it's been my go to.
But the plumbing or sewerage was off. Water smelt and my friend visiting was grosed out sadly taking a shower right away. Fix this!

Great hotel and location. Has everything you need within walking distance. Restaurants bars and casino just downstairs. Pool was lovely. More restaurants and Pac Fair mall just across the street. 5 min walk to the beach. We even walked to Draculas Cabaret for some evening entertainment one night. Staff were friendly and helpful and everything was clean. Would stay here again. The only down side was having to pay extra for parking. It’s $20 a day.

Location of the resort is very good, on the river, close to the Surfers Paradise central area and walking distance to the beach. It has lots of free garage and on site parking. It has tennis court, beautiful pool with hot outdoor spa , gym and dry sauna. All service desk guys were very attentive and helpful. Downside is that the resort is old and needs lots of maintenance. All common areas are in need of a facelift. All units have individual owners. The unit I stayed had blocked sink in the bathroom and bed mattress in the bedroom was worn out and sagging to one side. Lucky me I was able to sleep on the other side!

Overal is ok, had a small issue with the toilet and the fixed it same day. Close to the city and stations. Didnt use the pool or anuthyg like that but saw them. will consider it to come back. the recepcionists (Natalia helped us with the toilet issue) and more of them were friendly and helpful.

This hotel is centrally located on the esplanade, and this is its main plus. In everything else, in my view, it loses out to the Hilton , to which I moved after a few days. My room smelled to the extent it made me feel unwell. The two swimming pools they boast are a joke. In the first glass pool, you are fully exhibited to everyone on the esplanade, which is why no one swims. In the second one you can't swim if there's anyone else in the pool, it's that narrow. The spa is a private massage joint. I was given a parking spot with no remote the first day, and allowed to park as an exception - their parking is too small to accomidate a hotel of this size. It has no ev charging. The breakfast is nowhere as good as the Hiltons. In any case I fixed all these problems by moving.

Dated but well kept. Pool and BBQ although I didn't use them were a good facility. Location middle of Cairns meant I could walk everywhere easily and on the level.....even the airport was in my walking range at 5.4 km. Staff were excellent and the management Excellent and able to resolve all issues I had with onward travels and other countries online travel document requirements, which is so helpful to an older less technical traveller like me.👍 Mervyn

The hotel has a nice and classy overall look, but the room and bathroom felt somewhat dated. The front desk staff were unfriendly and not very accommodating, which was disappointing. However, the concierge team was excellent—very helpful and genuinely welcoming.
The main advantages of this hotel are its location and the great concierge service. During my stay, several events were held in the hotel hall, and it became overcrowded, making it uncomfortable for in-house guests to use the facilities such as pool etc. Despite paying a substantial amount for accommodation, the hotel declined even a 30-minute late check-out request, which was quite frustrating.
Overall, you could easily spend less—or top up a little more—and enjoy far better service at other nearby hotels.

Everything about this hotel is exceptional. The only downside was the room that I was given was on the top floor and the noise from either some sort of pump or the outside unit of the air condition was so overwhelming that I couldn't sleep well all night.

CCristal SimonWe loved the location of this hotel. Close enough to the main strip to enjoy everything Surfers Paradise has to offer, but far enough away to avoid the constant noise, crowds, and parking chaos. The main area was extremely busy, so we quickly discovered that e-bikes were the best way to get around. Surfers Paradise itself was great: lively atmosphere, plenty of activity, shops open late, great food options, and lots of buskers.
We booked a two-bedroom apartment with a sea view, and it absolutely delivered in terms of view and location. The hotel facilities were excellent — indoor and outdoor pools, spa, sauna, steam room, gym, and tennis courts. Our teenagers especially enjoyed making the most of all these amenities.
However, there were some significant issues that impacted our stay. We were in apartment 26B and had no air-conditioning for the entire six-day stay, which was very difficult given it was summer. We also didn’t realise that reception is only staffed for limited hours. When we called early in the day and again around 4pm, no one was available. We eventually managed to speak to someone on day two or three, and the hotel manager came to assist, but unfortunately there was little he could do. We were told the compressor was likely failing, meaning the air-conditioning could not be used at all. It was frustrating to be sold a five-night stay knowing the apartment was not in full working order.
Cleanliness was another concern. The floors throughout the apartment were sticky and grimy, with the kitchen floor feeling particularly oily and unclean. One of our sons found the couch sticky to the touch, and there was hair present in the bathroom which was disappointing.
While we genuinely loved the hotel, its grounds, and its facilities, there is clear room for improvement in both cleanliness standards and customer service.
Additionally, we encountered an unpleasant interaction with a long-term resident who complained about our children playing in the pool with a small rubber ball, claiming it was against the rules, despite other children—including her own—jumping into the pool. Given it was the school holidays and many families were using the facilities appropriately, the complaint felt unreasonable. It was also mentioned to us that lower-floor residents occasionally complain about noise from pool users, which may be an ongoing issue when short-term stays are accommodated.
Overall, the property has great potential, but improvements in maintenance, cleanliness, and guest communication would significantly enhance the experience.

TTraveller354After reading very mixed reviews, we went ahead and booked it. The result: very mixed feelings.
The location was beautiful, the sights breathtaking, the animals adorable, but when it came to actually spending time there, there wasn’t much to do.
We arrived on a later ferry so we knew we wouldn’t have much time to enjoy the sun after arrival, however because of a mix up, our suitcases went missing for an hour making us miss any chance of getting in the pool while it was hot out.
After, we went for dinner. There are only 2 restaurants available, and without making a reservation before hand, it’s a bit hard to go when you want. The food was ok, but expensive as one would expect from a place like this. Once dinner was finished, the evening entertainment (Alice in Wonderland screening) was already underway and we found ourselves with nothing to do at 9pm.
Early night for us.
The following day we planned a day of snorkelling, stingray feeding and kayaking.
We appreciated the free snorkel gear as well as the clear safety instructions and recommendations of the lifeguard. The sting Ray feeding experience was amazing and it was clear the staff knew what they were talking about and were passionate about the animals.
Kayaking and other water sports were cancelled however because of the high winds, leaving us, once again, with nothing to do. Early dinner (very entertaining moment with wallabies attempting to steal our food and being super cuddly), a walk around the beach, movie in the room, and early bedtime.
So all in all, beautiful location with great experiences of the weather allow, make sure to bring some entertainment if the water is too cold to swim in the pool or the weather turns sour. Maybe a book or some board games?
Also: if you want food in the late afternoon, make sure you bring some snacks as there is a limited selection available.

GGreeny12I think this is one of the best Marriot hotels I stayed. It has a beautiful lagoon and facilities and services are good. Two tram stops away from surfers paradise. View is from the room is also nice.

The room facilities were great, and the large room provided a comfy atmosphere that made it easy to relax. Plus, the location was ideal—just a short walk to the beach and the tram station, with a supermarket nearby for convenience.
However, I did encounter a disappointing issue: we saw a cockroach in our room. While this was unfortunate, it didn't overshadow the overall comfort and amenities of our stay. With a little more attention to cleanliness, this hotel could be an excellent choice for future visitors.
