The Renyi is a wonderful hotel in a great location looking onto the City walls. We were greeted by the friendly and welcoming owner who showed us to our rooms.
We were two independent travellers who decided to have a room each, and both rooms were superb. Mine looked onto the pretty courtyard while my friend’s faced the City walls, with each having a balcony with table and chairs.
Both rooms were duplex with comfortable and spacious living areas and bathroom/showers downstairs and the bedroom upstairs. All areas were spotlessly clean and the bed was big and comfortable and I had a wonderful night sleep.
Centre stage though is the gorgeous communal area which was adorned with beautiful plants and flowers, a small fish pond and even a peacock that gloriously but quietly strutted its stuff.
The location of the hotel is perfect for walking around the ancient city with the major tourist attractions only minutes from the hotel’s door. The ancient city itself is stunning and delightful to walk around.
We also took a trip to the nearby Yungang Grottoes which are breathtaking and a must see. We were both amazed by their beauty and historical significance to both Chinese and Buddhist cultures.
There are also many great restaurants within walking distance of the Renyi, and the owners were very helpful and provided us with any advice we needed.
As other reviewers have said the Renyi is a beautiful blend of historic and modern and I would highly recommended the hotel to anyone thinking of staying in DaTong.

The service was very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful despite the language barrier. There isn’t very much around the area but the stay was comfortable. The bed could be more comfortable and offer better refreshments in the room. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

My room was spotless—so clean and fresh, and completely non-smoking, which was a huge plus. I loved relaxing in the bathtub while taking in the view.
Breakfast was a solid win with varieties of options, both international and Chinese. My favorite part was the freshly squeezed juice —such a nice touch! The Chinese restaurant downstairs was also great, especially the spicy chicken dish. If you like bold flavors, it's a must-try.
The hotel offers four mineral hot bath pools, which looked super clean. They do come at an extra charge, but they seem worth it if you're looking to unwind. Speaking of relaxation, the spa was amazing! The lady massager was incredibly kind, helping me with my lower back pain after a long week of traveling. She even shared a tip—walking backward to ease the pain!
The only downside was that during the spring season, there’s no air conditioning. If the room gets a bit warm, you’ll need to open the window for cooler air.
Overall, it was a great experience, and I’d definitely recommend this place!

Hotel cleanliness is acceptable.
Front counter service & friendliness is normal.
Breakfast provided is very simple foods, & has not much of varieties. However, they do give a small token of souvenir when we checked out.
A set back about this hotel is it's location.
It is located across the other side of the river, which is the opposite site of Hukou town. So if you are coming from Xian, your tour bus is not allowed to go across to this hotel. Hv to arrange with hotel for their transport to come over this side & transfer guests +luggages to the hotel.
Another set back is that around this hotels, there are quite a few eateries places which provide more or less the same menu. But there is no sundry shops

The hotel is beautiful, specially the patios. The location is just 10 minutas walking from the North Gate of the wall. In reception they do not speak English, but they were very helpful with the translator. However, if you really need to rest, this hotel is not made for you. At 7am there were already families and kids shouting and playing in the patio. Even with taps, it was too noisy to keep sleeping. The hotel is also offering folkloric dressing and photos shoots, so you might find people take pictures in front of your room anytime, also at night with flashes

The hotel environment is still okay because I arrived late at night and the front desk helped me delay my check-out time. I had a good night's sleep during the journey. The transportation in the ancient city is also convenient, and the cleanliness of the rooms is also up to standard. Perhaps due to early booking, the price is more affordable. I recommend all hikers to stay, and I would like to thank a middle-aged female manager with short hair weighing 121 pounds for telling me about the folk stories of the ancient city!🤡

Ông chủ rất nhiệt tình và chở chúng tôi đi và về trong thành phố. Ông ấy còn giới thiệu cho chúng tôi những tuyến đường tham quan trong thành phố, rất ấm lòng ~.
Môi trường bên trong và bên ngoài khách sạn rất đẹp, thật là một bất ngờ thú vị! Khoảng sân thỏa mãn trí tưởng tượng của tôi về thành phố cổ Bình Dao! Hơn nữa, khách sạn nằm gần tòa nhà chợ, rất dễ tìm, n*** trung tâm phố cổ nên đi dạo đâu cũng rất thuận tiện!
Tiện nghi trong phòng đầy đủ, điều kiện vệ sinh tốt, tắm rất thoải mái, ngủ thoải mái!
Lần sau tôi sẽ dẫn bố mẹ và người thân đi chơi!
