Godler is only 30 kilometers from the capital Budapest. The town is picturesque and famous for the palace of King Joseph and Queen Elizabeth of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the 19th century. The palace was built in 1735-1749 and belonged to the noble Grassalkovich family. It was given as a gift to King Joseph and Queen Elizabeth in 1867, but it was often inhabited only by Princess Cissie. It is the largest Baroque building in Europe besides Versailles Palace. The whole building is elegant and atmospheric. It is also Princess Cissie's favorite holiday resort.
