Kota Kinabalu is the capital of Malaysia’s Sabah state in the northern part of the island of Borneo. Often referred to as KK, it’s a coastal city partly surrounded by rainforest.It's known for its bustling markets, modern boardwalk, beaches and waterfront Kota Kinabalu City Mosque. It is also a gateway to Kinabalu National Park, the home of 4,095m-high Mount Kinabalu.

Kota Kinabalu is a small town, not a lot of life, but it has everything you need. The malls are nice, movies are cheap, there's a nice fruit market. Also, it's a great point to go other places in Sabah.

we had an amazing vacation in kota kinabalu! definitely going back! the hotels and resorts are amazing and its easy ans convenient to rent a car and get yourself around. highly recommened

KK is a relatively small town but one of the most diverse places in MY for nasi kandar. If you have a chance, do a home stay in Gayang to get away from the city. Otherwise, there are plenty of food at the night market along the water and shopping on the weekend.
