This is a very moving museum. There's a lot to read and absorb here, so if you're interested in the history, do leave yourself plenty of time to fully experience the museum.

It was under construction when we were there but still it was really interesting to see all the pictures and artifacts from the incident.

Do not skip this. It's powerful, and raw, and very sad but it's something everyone should see. I cry easily and found myself tearing up through it quite frequently.

Powerful, raw and thoughtfully curated museum depicting the history and horrors of the first atomic bomb on earth used on a city. It tells the stories, history and science behind the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima and has numerous pleas and memorial sites urging peace for humanity. It is a powerful monument to see and a must for anyone in Hiroshima.

While the city itself was destroyed by the Atomic Bombs in WWII. The Peace Memorial Museum was built as both a reminder of the destruction and point to move forward from. Regardless it is something beautiful created out of the terrible destruction of the past. Some parts of the museum are a bit graphic and may not be suitable for younger children.
