The property was wonderful, and the food was excellent, probably the best all inclusive food I’ve had on my countless trips to all inclusive resorts in Mexico. The pools were great, and the staff was very attentive. Couple of issues, the check in process was cumbersome and clunky (waited more than an hour to compete check in and room wasn’t ready until almost 530 pm). App didn’t work well and the bracelet door keys are a disaster. Ask for a real key!! Some of the restaurants are adults only and making reservations at some spots are more than 3 weeks out, so not convenient for a normal guest. Lastly beach was nice, but more rocky than I am used to in the more northern parts of the coast.

Very clean resort. Bathrooms all around property very clean. Staff very nice, could be a bit more attentive but with this large of a resort it was to be expected. Very good overall experience. Would go back.

This hotel is hard to get to. We had to take a taxi, a ferry, and then another taxi to get there. $500 in additional fees which is insane. The hotel staff were not like a normal all inclusive- it felt like we were an inconvenience for them. The first night we couldn’t get the room we paid for due to a maintenance issue and we were told that we would get a $100 credit, but when we attempted to check out the credit wasn’t there AND they said we owed almost $5k in charges. After about 20 minutes we were able to get them removed but no one explained what they were. They then had to send an email to someone asking about our credit. (Hope we get the credit back)
The shows were good, but not all were included.
Restaurants were decent- make sure you download the app and make reservations.
Couple of maintenance issues in our room but the biggest irritation was when the AC didn’t go cooler than 19 C. I called and asked about it as I was able to change it previously and was told they would send someone. Guy shows up at the door and looks very annoyed and tells me that the AC is locked and I can’t change it. However the other family we were with didn’t have that issue.
Wouldn’t stay here again…
Note- you have access to four properties when you book this resort. Be prepared to wait for golf cart transportation in between. Forget about it on show nights.

Loved the trolley system, grounds and amenities. Room was a bit dated and had some quirks. Food was hit or miss. Buffets were great. Sushi and steakhouse left a lot to be desired. Dull steak knives at a steakhouse is never a good thing.

Man, where do I even begin? We had a very disappointing experience at the Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal. I think if the resort marketed itself as a 2 or 3 star resort, we would have felt a little better about the facility, but it seems like wishful thinking for this place to consider itself any more than a 3 star.
The rooms are dated, there’s poor water pressure in the showers, and the air conditioning is weak. Our AC went out at one point during the trip, and it took maintainance about 5 hours to fix it. This was problematic because we were traveling with 2 young children, and not having working AC during a large chunk of the evening made the night extremely uncomfortable.
There were a few outliers at the resort, but by and large most employees at the resort seemed miserable, and unwilling to accomate the simplest request. I asked one worker at the buffet if she could give me a napkin set because we were short one, and she just pointed me away. Mind you, she was making place settings herself.
The food was underwhelming specifically in options and quality.
The highlights of our stay were the friendly lemurs. I would not recommend booking this resort is you’re expecting a 4 or 5 star resort. We’ve traveled extensively through Mexico and we usually have a wonderful experience wherever we go, but unfortunately that didn’t happen here.
We wound up leaving a day early and just booked another hotel (shoutout to the Hyatt Ziva for salvaging our family vacation)!

We loved the property! The property is huge! It’s well kept and beautiful! The staff is very accommodating and friendly, too. When we had a question or needed something, there’s always someone available to help us. There’s a lot of activities you can do during the day and the shows they have at night are really entertaining. We stayed for a week and we didn’t even have enough time to explore the whole property! That’s how big it is! Plenty of things to do for adults and children. We had an amazing time and we plan on coming back next year!

Overall the hotel was EXCELLENT!! Service, staff, facilities, entertainment, food 5 stars. The only disappointment was the beer choice (should over 1 or 2 more options).
