Staff were so kind and friendly (and spoke really good english) - the check-in process was very enjoyable (they gave us complimentary matcha, sweets, and a small gift). Breakfast was amazing and locally sourced and meticulously prepared - very generous portions that left us so full till dinner. Location was very convenient - close enough to train station (although they do offer complimentary van shuttle service to and from train station) as well as close proximity to the market and old town shops. I loved the ability to access (3) onsens .

Centrally located ryokan in Takayama, room was a bit dated but above the average service, onsite Onsen and good food made up for it. Would love to stay again.

Our stay at Honjin Hiranoya Kachoan was truly one of the highlights of our Japan trip. From the moment we arrived, everything felt authentic, relaxing, and thoughtfully curated.

Great location but everything was very dated, the TV, western sofa set, even the car that drove us to the train station. We stayed in a room with an indoor onset which we enjoyed. The kaiseki and breakfast was very good.

Service is incredibly considerate, foods are delicate. Before we set off, the hotel would send a enquiry email to understand our needs, and they offer the pick up service if they are available.

The best ryokan experience I’ve ever had. The service was truly top-end, with warm, attentive, and professional staff who made the stay feel special from start to finish. The room was beautifully designed and extremely comfortable, the food was exceptional, and the onsen was peaceful and perfectly maintained. Every detail was thoughtfully done, making the entire experience both relaxing and memorable. Highly recommended, and I would absolutely return.

Great personal service. Onsen in the hotel and also can try the one next door at Bekkan. Friendly and attentive staff always ready to help at the door. Free shuttle service to train station or bus station. Short walk to the old town and there's a nicely decorated street on the left near Le Midi.

This is the 2nd time staying here. Excellent location with free shuttle service to the train station. Enjoyed the breakfast and dinner served. Great hospitality with friendly and helpful staff. Had a good time at their onsen.

Excellent location with arge room and many choices of onsen. Very nice staff.

The room we were given had a nice outlook and it was quiet. The futon beds were very comfortable but the bathroom and room furnishings were quite old and in need of renovation. The staff are lovely and the location is excellent.

All I can say is amazing!!! Words can’t describe how good it is. You guys gotta experience it!

The room is so big with private onsen! It also has a great view.
