Vitor's Village is a lovely place to stay. Fortunately my husband and I are (relatively) fit and could manage the steep hill down to Ferragudo and back, so didn't use the courtesy bus, but it, or taxis, would be vital for anyone with walking difficulties. Everywhere is spotless and well tended and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We arrived at around noon and were told that the apartments are usually not available until 4pm, but we could store our luggage and use the facilities in the meantime, and check back with reception at 2pm to see if a room could be allocated then, which it was. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, booking trips for us when requested. There's a very useful ATM machine in reception, saving the usual first day hunt around the resort for euros. The restaurant, Purple, is very good with excellent food. We stayed self-catering but ate in the restaurant a number of times. On check-in Reception gave us a voucher for a free bottle of wine with our first meal. There is an a la carte menu, which we chose from once, but also an excellent value 3 course set menu for 23 Euro per person with a choice of 2 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts which changes daily, which we usually chose from. This set menu was displayed on the noticeboard in reception - only ****** is that a couple of times they'd forgotten to change it from the day before, so we booked a table having already decided what we'd order, then discovered it was the day before's menu and had to find an alternative to order. The one bedroom apartment was modern and very comfortable with a fairly large balcony and a good view of the pool and, to the side, the river. It was well furnished with a very comfortable super-king sized bed, which is a bonus for us, as its what we are used to at home making even a king sized bed feel small! There is a safe, iron and even an ironing board. The only thing lacking is storage. The wardrobe is tiny, with only 5 hangers - fortunately I always pack a few. There's no allowance for longer garments - even knee length dresses were bunched up at the bottom because of 3 built-in shelves. The only drawer space is 2 small ones in each of the bedside cabinets. There aren't even any hooks on the back of doors. Also, there are no shelves/cupboards in the bathroom for toiletries. We found it challenging to keep the place uncluttered, and there was only 2 of us - it would be impossible with 4 people. All that said, we'd definitely recommend Vitor's Village and would be happy to stay there again - we'd just pack less clothes! There's also a laundry room available which we didn't use, but you'd be well advised to pack half of what you think you need and use the laundry facilities and the clothes airer on the balcony halfway through your holiday.
