Grecotel Kos Imperial

The hotel is very nice, the staff are very helpful. My only critisism is that the hotel is starting to get a bit old and it needs to be renewd

I’d been reading lots of Tripadvisor reviews in the run up to our holiday and was hoping it was just a lot of never satisfied, unhappy holidaymakers being unnecessarily stroppy! But it’s not I am sad to say... Everything is good from far, far from good. That includes the pool, the rooms and the restaurant. The service isn’t great... I’ve read that people comment on his short staffed it feels and I have to agree. The food is good, lots of variety which is helpful with small children and they have a lovely pale rose! I probably wouldn’t recommend someone to stay here in the future. Sorry 😔

We are more than halfway in our 2 week holiday (23of May till 6th of June) and it is such a great place but definitely not a 5 Star experience. The hotel grounds are truly amazing, the pools are magnificent and you enjoy being there. That is all tough, don't expect to get pampered and service is very poor. Guest relations manager a bit of a joke, too many women responsible and also via the app and at the end no one feels responsible. What could be improved for a better overall rating from our side: -Check in took very long although we checked in via App the night before. We arrived at 8:30pm and they left us at reception for 30min with 3 young kids. We had to ask if we could go for dinner before we check in and they where surprised we still got no room. Didn't they not see us there or what? -Pastic water bottles during meals are a no go. -Waiters don't pour you water in your glass, also a no go. -Empty plates don't get removed. You sit with dessert with a tower of empty plates still next to you. -Sparkling wine served warm and in white wine glass. -Tables not cleaned up properly and not set up quickly for new guests. Then they often forget a cutlery set or cup or something. -Ordered baby food for lunch, never ready on time. After 3 days we gave up. -My wish for soft steamed vegetables for dinner for baby never arrived, only as puree. At the end I gave up. - In the room we often had missing towels. 3 towels for 5 people is a bit little. - No Pool or beach service, paying extra for LuxMe then I have to fetch food myself, no go. -No a la carte for free for HB guests. -Tables have no white tablecloths not even at a la carte. -Deckchairs at pool all reserved already before 8am! Hotel does nothing despite the sign that they will remove the things after 30min. When we informed the guest relations about this issue they told us to keep reporting such deckchairs. Seriously? this should be your job not mine. I am on holiday in a 5 star hotel. -Rooms definitely not a 3 star but unfortunately this is to be expected unless they do a complete renovation. It's a lot of small things that definitely don't ruin your holiday but akso don't make your holiday special. We are still enjoying our holiday and perhaps would consider even coming again if we find a good offer, (not worth the full price) but you don't feel pampered or looked after. We are eating breakfast and dinner always in the same section and we still have to ask every time for a baby chair. Other 5 star hotels would already put one when they see us coming and also the drinks we always order. You get what I mean, small things make the difference. The only thing that feels 5 ⭐ are the prices for drinks 😂 11€ for an Aperol spritz, 13€ for Mai Tai, 4.20€ for a plastic 1l still water for which you have to wait in a line at the bar instead of getting it served at the deckchair. It's our first Grecotel and I ask what's the fuss about it.

Firstly i need to mention that I appreciate how lucky we are as a family to be able to go on holiday together at all with the world experiencing so many issues. I think you need to be a pretty miserable and spoilt person to not make the most of an opportunity of a week in the sun with a drink in your hand, and your kids happy. We are a family of 4 with 2 kids (age 2 and 7). We had a really lovely holiday but not because we were looked after by the hotel, but because we made our own fun and enjoyed the sunshine and relaxation... HOWEVER... I do need to write an honest review of this hotel as we do feel let down after our holiday as we were mislead by the marketing of the hotel and by the staff here. This is my first trip advisor review for this reason...my aim is to help families to make an informed choice on whether to book or not. We have been fortunate to have visited Greece 6 times now and have stayed at some of the best hotels in the world, to name a few 5* Greek resorts : Sani Club, Ikos Olivia, and the Astir Odysseus. This year we couldn't justify the Ikos price tag a so we did a lot of research and settled on the Luxme Grecotel Kos Imperial for May half term - mostly due to the fantastic reviews last summer. To be clear, we weren't expecting the luxury and service levels of Sani or Ikos here (unrealistic for the price difference) but we did expect a comparison to the brilliant 5 star Astir Odysseus down the road, which we loved, which is a similar price to this hotel. I'm afraid once we were there - we felt like we were in a different hotel (if you are reading reviews pay attention to the dates of their stays as the hotel was closed over winter and only reopened in May 2024). POOLS: Firstly, the main areas of the hotel are stunning!!! The views are gorgeous, pool area and gardens are beautiful. But we booked as the kids pool said it was heated. This year is isn't. ALL THE POOLS WERE FREEZING. My 2 year old basically refused to go in...and my 7 year old was blue and shivering after a dip. Kids eventually get used to it and make friends and go in for short stints, but it really took the shine off it for us as we had to entertain them a lot more out of the pool as it was so cold. There is a lazy river which is just a tunnel of water (no rapids) but still the kids loved it - pools are saltwater which didn't bother us as much as the cold temperatures. There is a really lovely central island with a manmade beach which the kids loved to build sand castles on. Considering it was half term and the hotel was full, we expected kids entertainment around the pool but there was nothing. POOL BAR: Drinks are really good - cocktails are strong and delicious. Staff were overworked and understaffed again. They work 12 hours shifts in the heat and don't seem to enjoy their jobs, but they do their best and a mostly friendly if a bit subdued, more are needed as long waits for drinks when busy. We have just returned from 2 weeks at this hotel. We totally agree with the recent comments that there are just not enough staff to cope with the number of guests. Our first week was bad but the second week was much worse when the hotel was busier. The restaurant was totally understaffed with tables not being cleared and management even showing guests to tables covered with dirty dishes and having to sit and wait for the table to be relaid. We did complain but nothing really changed due to lack of staff who were just having to firefight the problems every night. Felt very sorry for the restaurant staff who tried their best to cope with the constant complaints. The buffet food was quite good but very repetitive with. No themed nights as promised. We did eat at one of the other restaurants at a supplement but a total waste of money in our opinion. Some lovely staff and Maria was exceptional.

We stayed for 10 days last week and for the most part this is a really nice hotel and we had a lovely stay. We arrived late after the restaurant had closed, but the hotel has arranged for warm plates if food to be set aside for everyone which was a really nice touch. I booked a bungalow room, which I assumed would be a spacious area, but was surprised and disappointed that we had booked the most basic room they offer which was far too small and also not suitable for my 3-year-old. I won't dwell on this, as the hotel moved us on our third night to a bigger room and we were much happier there. Although I would suggest not calling a basic double room a bungalow, as I think its misleading. All of the food we had was great, I'm normally a bit cautious about buffets and freshness of food but I cannot fault the food here, everything seemed fresh and to the highest hygiene standard. The hotel is beautiful, the nice little touches like gelato and creperie and a sandpit area in the middle of the hotel are great when you have children. There are some reasons I didn't give a 5 though. We found the main buffet restaurant to be chaotic and when you arrive, you basically walk around looking for your own table and on the first few nights there were lots of dirty tables and struggled to find anywhere to sit. I'm not sure if they were short-staffed, but I was surprised that they didn't have a host system that showed you to a clean table like most big hotels do. The staff were absolutely lovely, but most of the time it took a while to get anyone's attention to reset and clean a table, get drinks, etc which could be frustrating, especially when you have young children. I was also really surprised by the amount of small plastic bottles that were given out unnecessarily and would have expected the hotel to be more conscious of their waste. Whilst I appreciate setting up filtered water systems like some of the big hotels I've been to is a big investment, but even smaller things like giving us 1 large bottle of water between 3 of us rather than 2 to 3 small bottles would be an improvement. We really did enjoy our stay, loved the hotel and would come back (which I rarely say!), I just think with a few small changes the hotel could be incredible. Just one flag for anyone who books through jet2, I booked half board and was happy to do this, as jet2 described the hotel as being surrounded by an array of tavernas, cafes and bars on your doorstep. However, the reality is that there are places to eat and drink, but the closest are a 5-minute drive and not a safe walk as there's no footpath path.

We cannot recommend the Kos Imperial enough , we stayed from May 10th for 7 Night’s and had the All inclusive deal. Our adult son uses a wheelchair and has severe learning difficulties and health problems and we where concerned as to the hotel being accessible for us , I can honestly say that every restaurant , bar , beach , A La Carte restaurants and pools where all wheelchair friendly . The grounds are immaculate and lovely to look at as you go wandering around the hotel . We had the privilege to eat in the FINICIA restaurant twice , the Captain , Dionisis , was a fantastic host and couldn’t do enough for us . The choice was amazing and every course was delicious , full of flavour & cooked to perfection . Not far behind though was the 1930s Italian. Restaurant , the starters were again lovely and we had the Veal & Shrinps , cooked to perfection on our hot stones . The Asian a la carte was also well received , lovely atmosphere and right on the beach , Maria was the host there who was faultless . Breakfast buffet was incredible with every single taste catered for with a huge array of food , the restaurant manager ,Spiros , also ensured he did everything to make sure we enjoyed our holiday . Overall we can honestly say this was the best hotel we have ever stayed in and have no complaints whatsoever , it is definately a 10/10 from us . The pools are all spotlessly clean and there was more than enough Sunbeds available all around the pool and also the beach . We didn’t have to save a bed the whole week we were there . The guys at the pool bar work exceptionally hard and don’t stop all day , especially Nasser , who helped us immensely with our drinks etc during the hot days while we attended to our son’s needs . He must do over 50,000 steps a day !! A credit to himself and the hotel Every single staff member we encountered was happy , helpful and kind , nothing was too much for them . I’d also like to mention the reception staff who would happily solve any small problem encountered , especially the wonderful Anastos Stasinopolus who ensures we had the best holiday ever . What an asset he is . The Valet guys are also extremely helpful especially Maniche & Costas . TIP1 the hotel mini market is very expensive and the suntan oils Especially are well over priced , the mini market opposite is less than half the price and well worth the 2 minute walk . TIP2 taxis are only 12 Euro to Kos town and the old town has got some lovely restaurants and shops as well as a beautiful church . TIP3 make use of the beach bar , fantastic views and cocktails . We will 100 percent be booking again for 2025.

This holiday was amazing from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. The management and staff are all about ensuring your have the best experience you could have. Food was really good, drinks really good. I want to say a massive thank you to the front desk Manageress as she was amazing and made our holiday extra special. Also thank you to Adina and Romeo in the lobby bar, the rest of the staff were amazing but these two really stood out to us. Thank you to Saitama Aka George, Luffy, Mike and also Manager one punch man - they know who they are on the pool bar with a thanks to Katerina as well! We will forever remember you all! The hotel is being upgraded, however it spoke volumes that myself and my wife thought the hotel was amazing, and I mean the hotel is to an outstanding standard, but the staff feel it’s not at its best yet! There is a very high standard aimed at by the staff and they ensure that this is met in every way. The hotel is very clean and well kept. There is a genuine team working spirit here. We will 100% be back to this hotel. The only negative I can mention is the actual passport control to get in and out of Kos at the airport. It was horrendous and if not for the hotel and experience we had, I would never feel the need to go back to Kos to go through the airport issues again. The A la carte’s are very good and a really pleasant experience. My only thought would be to move the fish one down to the beach where the Asian one is held as the smell can be quite strong when your are trying to relax in the evening, however this is a personal though as I struggle with the smell of fish and seafood. Pool are amazing and very nice. They are salty which we loved and ensure that you get an even better tan. We did try and tip wherever we felt right, however it is not expected and it did seem that the staff were quite taken back by tip's being given which was genuine. Certainly not expected like in some destinations. All in all we felt this is the best hotel we have been to and felt truly spoilt. Thank you and see you again in the future.

6 of us have Just returned from an amazing week away with age ranges from kids ages 8, 14, and adults 20’s, 30’s and 50’s we all had the best time! Definitely a 5* hotel, the food and service were all top notch! We would definitely return. All staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were immaculate and of a high standard.
