We really enjoyed our stay at the Lahu home hotel. We stayed for two nights as a family in mid July 2024. While the rooms are fairly basic, they are comfortable and clean. What makes the stay special is the staff and the connection to the local Lahu people. This makes the stay so much more special. We had an amazing day trekking from the waterfall to one of the hill villages, picking and roasting our own tea and enjoying a traditional Lahu lunch in their home. The staff were amazing and couldn’t have been friendlier. We also thought the food on the hotel was excellent and really enjoyed making our own papaya salad. Sad to say goodbye after less than 2 days.

We loved our stay here. Staff are extremely friendly and we had a superb day with a tribal family in the mountains , cooking a meal and picking and processing tea. The homemade apricot spirit was also nice Local area has a few temples. There is a smart coffee shop and restaurant opposite and a friendly bar one block down. We coincided with the local weekly market which was fun to walk through . The thing that amazed us most though was the quality of the food served in the evening at the hotel - no menu but just exceptionally tasty small dishes with local specialties.. best meal we had in a month in Thailand!! Recommend this hotel and experience highly - well worth the diversion off the tourist trail !

I have been to visit hill tribe areas around Chiang Mai, but I found the Phumanee Hotel and Lahu village tour to be much superior. I recommend to contact the hotel to set up a tour package; it is worth the extra expense. The hotel owner gave us a talk about her Lahu family history and the village we were about to visit. We were driven up a winding route past orange orchards to the village at the end of the road near the Myanmar border. It got less developed and more wild as we travelled further. In the village, helped prepare a meal at a village home, picked, dried and rolled out tea leaves, watched a basket weaving demonstration at another house. It was a lovely relaxed village up in the mountains. On the way back was a stop at a refreshing waterfall. If arranged, the hotel has two lovely set dinners; they were wonderful. They also setup a Thai cooking experience for us at the hotel. Our room at the hotel accommodated our family of four, so I was happy not to be split up. The hotel doesn't look impressive on the outside, but it more than makes up with the hostess, village tour, food, and hospitality.

Phumanee Home Hotel is not a 4/5 star hotel, but it offers an amazing experience. We stayed for two nights and this was the highlight of our 14 day trip to Thailand. We were taken on a bike rider around the temples of Fang and treated to a selection of local dishes for dinner. On the second day we were given a background to the families Lahu village history and then we were taken to the village where we were involved in the preparation of lunch and shown basket weaving. We then picked tea for salad back at the hotel. We also visited the waterfall and the hot springs on the way home. Again in the evening we were treated to a fabulous evening meal. The whole experience was amazing and really interesting as although the village receives visitors its main income is still from the production of tea and coffee so it is largely unspoilt. We will be recommending the hotel to everyone we know.
