Room was clean & spacious. Service staff was friendly & helpful for various requests. Only down side is that there were a few instances of water outage - although usually resolved 10 minutes. Heated water in shower takes quite a while - although maybe it’s due to location (mountainous area). Food however quite lacking - really really salty.

Villa Mount Royal is conveniently located, offering easy access to Nuwara Eliya's main attractions, such as Gregory Lake, Hakgala Botanical Garden, and the tea plantations. Despite its proximity to town, it feels wonderfully secluded, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. The rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated, and equipped with modern amenities. I particularly appreciated the large windows that showcased the surrounding natural beauty – waking up to misty hills was truly magical! The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were spotless, with a supply of hot water to beat the chilly weather. The villa has a cozy common area with a fireplace, perfect for unwinding after a day of sightseeing. The garden is well-maintained, providing a peaceful spot to enjoy your morning tea or coffee. Free Wi-Fi was available, though I recommend disconnecting for a while to soak in the tranquility of the setting. The on-site restaurant served delicious, freshly prepared meals. Their Sri Lankan breakfast was a highlight – hearty, flavorful, and made with love. The staff was accommodating to dietary preferences, ensuring a delightful culinary experience. Villa Mount Royal is a perfect choice for those seeking a blend of comfort and natural beauty in Nuwara Eliya. Whether you're a couple looking for a romantic getaway or a family in need of a peaceful retreat, this villa ticks all the boxes.

I recently stayed at this hotel and while there were some positives, a few key issues made the experience less than ideal. 🌄 Scenic Beauty No doubt, the view from the property is stunning — easily one of its strongest features. Whether it’s sunrise or sunset, the surroundings offer a peaceful and picturesque escape. 🛏️ Room Quality The rooms were decent: clean, comfortable, and functional. Not luxurious, but good enough for a short stay. A few upgrades in decor or amenities could elevate the experience. 🍽️ Food Concerns Unfortunately, the food was a major letdown. After breakfast, I experienced stomach pain that felt like food poisoning. It’s hard to say for certain, but the timing and symptoms suggest the meal may have been the cause. This was disappointing and concerning, especially given the importance of food safety in hospitality. ⚖️ Overall Impression The hotel has potential — great views and acceptable rooms — but the food experience seriously affected my stay. I hope they take steps to improve kitchen hygiene and food quality going forward.

Melheim Kandy Villas is a charming hillside retreat that blends comfort, nature, and warm hospitality beautifully. Nestled amidst lush greenery with sweeping views of the Kandy hills, it offers a peaceful escape from the bustle of the city while still being within a reasonable drive to key attractions. The rooms are spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully designed, with large windows or balconies that let you soak in the serene surroundings. The beds are comfortable, and the overall ambiance feels homely yet refined. While the property is generally well-maintained, a few minor maintenance touches could make it even better. One of the highlights is the service — the staff are genuinely friendly, attentive, and eager to make your stay memorable. The breakfast is hearty and flavorful, often featuring fresh local produce, and dining on the terrace with a view is a treat in itself

The hotel is hidden away in the mountains outside Kandy, a great spot to relax and unwind. It is about 45 minutes out of central Kandy and 20 minutes to the botanical gardens  but the hotel will helpfully arrange transport if you decide to head into town. The view from the hotel is one of the best I have ever seen and sitting, relaxing in the beautiful grounds was one of the highlights of our time in Sri Lanka. The hotel food is also excellent, with a wide variety of delicious curries available. All of the staff are extremely friendly, warm and welcoming, they went out of their way to make sure we had a good time They also have a very affectionate dog, which was a huge win!

It was absolutely amazing experience. We came from Japan & came to highland area to escape the city busyness. We are astonished about this hidden gem. As we came in we were welcomed with fantastic passion fruit juice. We came after dark & only requested simple white rice & fried vegetable but the chef and her staff made an amazing dinner with simple vegetable & rice. I realized how food prepared with heart can heal our soul. I was kept thinking if people in the world could eat this kind of food with real soul in it, could heal the whole world!! It is so amazing to be surrounded by beautiful trees &sounds of animals. I will definitely come back again. O

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Ganthera and the staff were friendly however the room itself could have been improved. For example, there was distinct black marks on the walls and some mould in the bathroom but we understand the climate is humid (also some dead bugs). Bed area was clean and satisfactory and we slept well. The front door is locked at night so beware if needing to leave early - staff are not attentive to this. Whilst we did not use the pool area, the view was nice and pool looked good. Overall we enjoyed our stay but would probably not come back.

One of the most amazing properties i have stayed at. Both Bandhara and Madu, the butler and chef, were amazing. They were attentive, responsive and spot on..great work guys..very impressed. The property does full justice to the $. The location, the chants from the Buddhist temple in the valley create the utmost serene atmosphere. Every amenity is top end and every detail looked after. Will visit again for sure and will highly recommend..cheers
