建於1953年的海珠廣場，位於廣州市老城區中心軸線與濱江景觀帶的交點，是廣州唯一的濱江廣場。廣場內綠草如茵，植有棕櫚、紅棉等喬木，整個廣場富有亞熱帶特色。廣場正中央矗立著廣州解放紀念像，建於1959年，雕像肩挎小米袋，一手緊握步槍，一手捧著鮮花，微笑著凝視遠方。像座刻有葉劍英的題詞“一九四九年十月十四日解放紀念”，是沿江路的標誌性雕塑建築物。

＂海珠广场＂位于广州市老城区中心轴线与滨江景观带的交点，是广州唯一的滨江广场。海珠广场在海珠桥的北侧，因位于海珠桥旁边而得名。海珠桥建于1932年，1938年被日军飞机炸成废墟，1949年再遭炸毁，1950年修复。1953年建海珠广场，它曾充当海珠桥被炸与重修、解放军进城等重大历史事件的见证人角色。1959年，为纪念广州解放10周年，在广场中建＂广州解放纪念像＂，看起来十分壮观。1963年和1982年，海珠广场和广州解放纪念像以＂珠海丹心＂入选羊城新八景。海珠广场内有绿草如茵的草坪，植有棕榈、红棉等乔木，整个广场富有亚热带特色。
