4-Star Luxury Hotel for the Backpacker Price of $40/night! The first thing you notice about Sokha Palace Siem Reap Hotel is just how pretty it is! The architect, painters, decorators and maintenance staff did a fabulous job (see my photos). The second thing you notice is how delicious the huge buffet is – including free espresso drinks. Third, you notice that the rooms are not only nice but that everything works well (aircon, hot water showers, refrigerator, wifi, and cable TV with news channels from a half dozen countries like CNN). Fourth, it is in a quiet location less than 15 minutes from Angkor Wat, and only a $2 tuktuk ride to Pub Street or anywhere else in Siem Reap. But then you notice the best part: the outstanding hotel staff. For example, the Front Desk Manager Phyrun personally helped me when I could not make my room keycard work, and even brought me a bucket of ice. Originally I booked five nights during Chinese New Year with Trip.com discounts for $39/night, but he gave me a free upgrade from a garden view double with king bed to a pool view room. I liked it so much I wanted to extend, but the best I could find online was $41/night garden view, $51 for pool view. I asked Phyrun if I could get the upgrade again if I bought the $41 online, and he said no – but he smiled and said he would give it to me for $40/night the Khmer rate instead (normally $50 for barangs like me)! The restaurant had other examples of great staff. Some days the restaurant is overflowing with several hundred guests, other days only a few dozen. Yet they maintain the quality and personal touch from the egg and soup station, to the bountiful buffet, to the waiters and waitresses that clear the tables. The Restaurant Manager Somedy and his Assistant Manager Chhaiya keep it all flowing smoothly. Even on the busiest day, waitress Chanthla took the time to show my Khmer friend’s elderly stepmom the way they fold the napkins. Today the espresso machine was not working for a while, so Chhaiya offered to have a waiter drive over to the sister hotel to bring me lattes. I repeatedly declined, but was very impressed by the excellent customer service attitude. So the real beauty of this French chateau style hotel is its employees, including very efficient housekeeping and grounds staff. I checked out the “5-Star” Sokha Resort on the other side of its convention center, but did not like it half as much (especially for 70% more per night). Normally I would be afraid to write a review of a hotel that I like so much, but with 456 rooms I don’t have to worry about it being full. Do yourself a favor and stay here when in Siem Reap.

Sala Siem is very attractive hotel to stay. Right Infront of the Angkor Museum. Location is good to reach everywhere via TukTuks for maybe 1$. Service and team are great 😊 So thanks Na Na & Yanpaing. Lyma went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and memorable. Her excellent English communication skills made everything seamless, and her genuine warmth and attentiveness to guest needs made me feel truly welcomed. Whether I needed recommendations, assistance with bookings, or just a friendly conversation, Lyma was there with a smile and helpful solutions. Cleanliness and Comfort The property maintains impeccable standards of cleanliness throughout. My room was spotless, and the common areas were consistently well-maintained. It's clear that the management takes great pride in providing guests with a hygienic and comfortable environment. Outstanding Restaurant The on-site restaurant is a real highlight. The food is absolutely delicious, offering authentic flavors that showcase the best of Cambodian cuisine alongside international options. What impressed me most was the combination of high quality and reasonable prices – you get exceptional value for your money. Whether you're grabbing breakfast before temple tours or enjoying dinner after a long day of exploration, the restaurant delivers consistently tasty meals. Convenient Motorcycle Rental For travelers wanting to explore Siem Reap independently, The Calm Oasis offers motorcycle rentals at very competitive prices. This added convenience means you don't need to search elsewhere for transportation, and the rates are among the best I've seen in the area. Having this service available on-site made exploring Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples incredibly easy. Overall Impression The Calm Oasis strikes the perfect balance between comfort, affordability, and genuine hospitality. The friendly atmosphere, pristine cleanliness, delicious food, fair pricing, and exceptional staff – especially Lyma – combine to create an experience that I would highly recommend to any traveler visiting Siem Reap. This is the kind of place that makes you want to extend your stay and return on your next visit to Cambodia. Highly recommended for: Solo travelers, couples, and anyone looking for authentic hospitality in a clean, comfortable setting with excellent value.

Tối hôm đó họ gõ cửa, tôi tưởng có chuyện gì đó, nhưng khi mở cửa ra, có ba chú bé đang hát chúc mừng sinh nhật, tay cầm bánh kem🎂... Cảm động quá, mắt tôi ươn ướt! Thật là một khách sạn đẹp, tôi sẽ đi lại. Vì Xiêm Riệp. Tôi đã đến đó hai lần. Mong muốn được đi một lần nữa!

Tôi ở trong ký túc xá. Vị trí rất thuận tiện. Các cửa hàng, nhà hàng, quán cà phê, v.v. đều nằm trong khoảng cách đi bộ. Nhà vệ sinh và phòng tắm sạch sẽ, và có dịch vụ giặt ủi với giá chỉ 3 đô la. Tôi yêu cầu một phòng yên tĩnh, và phòng khá yên tĩnh, mặc dù có tiếng nhạc lớn phát ra từ lối vào. We had a truly wonderful stay at the Golden Temple Retreat in Siem Reap. From the moment we arrived, we were pampered with warm smiles, a fragrant welcome tea, and jasmine-scented cold towels that seemed to appear magically just when we needed them. The airport pick-up was seamless, and our driver Noy was punctual, kind, and professional. We took a two-day guided tour of the Angkor temples with the knowledgeable and passionate Mr. Chong, who not only walked us through the incredible history but also showed us hidden corners we never would have found on our own. One of the highlights was a magical sunset aperitif aboard a traditional Cambodian gondola, where Mr. Van and the cheerful Captain Runn surprised us by mixing a perfect Negroni right there on the water. The next day, they treated us to a private Khmer-style lunch, beautifully prepared by a dedicated chef just for us. The retreat itself is breathtaking — the pool is a true oasis, and the in-room bathtub was the cherry on top of a perfect stay. Every detail was flawless. We highly recommend this hotel and would love to return someday

The hotel was exceptional! Cosy, spacious and clean, the highlight, however, has to be the extraordinary service provided by the staff, who always went the extra mile to ensure that we had a pleasant stay— a huge shoutout to Limon-Poe Tea, Sotha and Sokhunthea and many other staff for their exceptional care. The spa at the hotel was fantastic and the restaurant catered for vegetarian dietary options as well.
