I had been to London so many times, but I had yet to visit the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, better known as the Kew Gardens. On my last trip I finally made it there. It is a little outside of the city centre. You can easily reach it by subway, though it might take up to an hour to get there. At 20 pounds a ticket, entrance fees are quite high, but the gardens are enlisted on the Unesco World Heritage list. The gardens are huge. You can explore the different areas, such as the woodlands for hours. Though my favourites are the glass greenhouses, especially the one with the giant lilly pads. #bucketlistreboot

Kew Gardens is a stunning place to spend half a day immersed in nature. On a sunny day, the beauty of Kew Gardens is captivating. The humid and warm tropical greenhouse transports you to the scenes from 'The Botanist's Daughter.' Although I missed seeing the Waterlily Amazonian Victoria this time, visiting Kew Gardens never gets old. Spending an afternoon wandering and soaking up the sun is always worthwhile. My favorite greenhouse is the Princess of Wales Conservatory, inaugurated by Princess Diana in 1987 in honor of her grandmother, the Princess of Wales. It features ten computer-controlled climate zones that simulate different ecosystems by precisely adjusting temperature, humidity, and light. It's like a glass maze that takes you from a humid tropical rainforest to a dry desert in an instant. This is the season when various flowering plants are at their most vibrant, offering a sense of healing. Recently, there's also a Marc Quinn sculpture exhibition, with giant metal orchids near the Palm House. Seeing his work in person is truly awe-inspiring. Despite the less-than-ideal weather forecast 🌤️🌦️🌥️🌨️, the official Instagram announced that the Titan Arum is blooming! The flower only lasts for 1-2 days (see photo 6). So, I decided to head out right after waking up (even though it was already past noon 🤣). The water lilies were breathtakingly beautiful. I saw various strange and adorable plants but didn't have time to learn about each one. My camera 📷 did a thorough job capturing them. Tickets 🎫: Student tickets are £9 online, but £11 at the gate. It's better to purchase in advance. Transportation 🚄: Take the South Western Railway to Richmond station. You can catch a bus 🚌 from there, or walk about 800 meters to reach the gardens. Shopping 🛍️: The £4.5 eco-friendly bags and £18 for two hand creams are quite a bargain. Other merchandise seems thoughtfully designed, including garden-themed Jellycat toys, featuring the Titan Arum and Bird of Paradise. I recently had the chance to see the rare blooming of the Titan Arum, known for its corpse-like odor, at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. This fascinating plant not only emits a strong smell to attract pollinators but also mimics mammalian body temperature. The bloom lasts only two days, and upon hearing about it, I quickly purchased a ticket from Kew's website (student tickets are £9 on weekdays, with ID required). The best entrance is Victoria Gate, and from there, head to the Princess of Wales Conservatory. At the first fork, take the left door for a quicker route. The conservatory is quite narrow and crowded, so it's advisable to take photos swiftly to avoid congestion. Since it's a tropical plant, the conservatory is quite warm; wearing a short-sleeve shirt with a jacket is recommended. The flower has a small opening for pollination, which might explain the lack of odor in the space. Some visitors noted the smell comes in waves. I was fortunate to witness this rare bloom, which I've only seen in documentaries and books before! Additionally, Kew is hosting an exhibition by artist Marc Quinn, inspired by nature and science. The exhibition, Light into Life, runs until October 29th and is spread across the garden, mainly around the Temperate House and Palm House. The annual Orchid Festival at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew has begun! This year's highlight is the live plant specimens from Madagascar, ranging from spiky desert plants to succulent woodland vegetation. The exhibition features adorable sculptures made from orchids and other beautiful plants, including swinging lemurs, grazing zebu, colorful chameleons, flying insects, swimming turtles, and vibrant birds. Madagascar is home to some of the world's rarest plant species, with over 14,000 species not found elsewhere. The exhibits include orchids cultivated by Kew Gardens, which has been collaborating with Madagascar since 1986. The Kew Madagascar Conservation Centre (KMCC) is Kew's only overseas office, regularly collaborating on specific projects, including documenting all grasses found in Madagascar. Student (16-24 years young person) ticket, £9 💷. 🚇Transportation: There are four entrances, recommended Victoria Gate (TW9 3JR) or Elizabeth Gate (TW9 3AB). Remember to grab a map at the entrance! 🕙Hours: Weekdays 10:00-18:00, Weekends: 10:00-19:00. Arrive early! The park is huge! Highly recommend Temperate House⭐️⭐️⭐️. The new Temperate House is located to the left front of the entrance (as shown in the picture), it's the best place for photos and the most comfortable pavilion with fewer visitors and a pleasant indoor temperature! Palm House⭐️⭐️ is the closest to Victoria Gate, with a wide variety of plants, but it's quite hot inside. Wearing a mask indoors can feel suffocating, but it's a very popular pavilion with many visitors. The Hive⭐️⭐️ is closest to Elizabeth Gate, quite spectacular and very popular! The Rock Garden & Davies Alpine House⭐️⭐️⭐️ offers a stunning backyard view (photo 9), don't miss it! There are many other great pavilions to explore. After exiting Kew Gardens subway station, it feels like being back home instantly. Try GoLink⭐️⭐️⭐️ for faster internet, listening to music and watching shows smoothly! As a plant enthusiast, I finally visited London's Kew Garden! The autumn colors of red, orange, and yellow are vibrant throughout the garden. The greenhouse plants are still lush and green. Regarding tickets, I was surprised to learn that they are required, with prices varying between peak and off-peak seasons. October to February is off-peak, making tickets relatively cheaper. Student tickets without donation cost only £6. Although it's off-peak, visiting Kew Garden in autumn is worthwhile because London's fall colors are stunning! The garden is perfect for photography, and if you spend too much time outdoors, you can visit one of the three greenhouses. However, we only had time to visit two, as the greenhouses close at 2 PM and the entire garden closes at 3 PM. It opens at 10 AM and closes at 3 PM, making me envy the staff here. The Palm House is filled with tropical plants, which are very soothing, but having lived in the tropics before, I'm quite familiar with these plants. The Princess of Wales Conservatory is quite diverse, featuring cacti, aquatic plants like lotus and water lilies, and orchids. It's a great place for sketching!
