Johor’s Quiet Finale: Soft Flavours and Serene Sunsets
#summervacay Our final morning began slowly, with the comforting routine of the hotel breakfast buffet. Depending on when we finally stirred awake, we caught the tail end of the spread before it closed around 10:30am. The familiar mix of light pastries, eggs, toast, and steaming coffee felt like a warm send-off—simple pleasures that grounded us as we prepared to leave.
By noon, we checked out of Hotel Granada and set off for one last round of food discoveries. After all, a trip isn’t truly over until you’ve had your final taste.
At 12:30pm, we found ourselves at Soeurs Coffee, a minimalist café nestled quietly away from the city’s noise. The space was a soft retreat — calm, uncluttered, and welcoming. Their mochi cheesecake was an absolute standout: delicate, creamy, with just the right chewiness from the mochi center. Paired with their signature Amulet Coffee, which arrived accompanied by a tiny charm, the experience felt personal and thoughtful—a small detail that lingered with us beyond the taste.
By mid-afternoon, at 2:30pm, we indulged in a heartier, deeply satisfying lunch at Baliban Braised Duck. The duck was perfectly braised—tender and rich, with layers of herbal, savory flavours that melted effortlessly. This wasn’t just food; it was soulful comfort on a plate, quietly stealing the show as one of the trip’s hidden highlights.
To walk off the meal, we headed to Paradigm Mall around 4pm. The cool, airy mall offered a relaxed atmosphere for wandering through familiar shops. We took a well-timed break at Beautea, known for its beautifully crafted floral drinks. The matcha strawberry yogurt was refreshing and light, a delicate balance of sweet and tangy that felt like a breath of fresh air.
Our day—and our trip—found its perfect finale at Marine Beach Bar by Danga Bay Country Garden. We arrived just in time to catch the sunset’s slow transformation: soft pinks bleeding into golden ambers and deep purples, painting the sky in a cinematic palette. The beach bar’s laid-back vibe, complete with a swing overlooking the water and a gentle ocean breeze, invited us to pause and soak it all in. It was the kind of moment that feels both fleeting and eternal—quiet, beautiful, and full of calm.
This gentle, flavour-filled day was the perfect closing chapter to our Johor getaway. A mix of thoughtful bites, serene spaces, and a little magic by the water—just the kind of farewell that leaves you already dreaming of a return.
