Visit Edinburgh Zoo to See the Giant Pandas!
Edinburgh Zoo is home to the only two giant pandas in the UK. Located at EH12 6TS, it's best to book your tickets a day in advance on their official website. Students can purchase a concession ticket for £19.55. After purchasing, you'll receive an email with a QR code. Simply scan it and show your student ID upon arrival. We traveled from Glasgow, taking the 900 bus from the city center directly to the zoo entrance. The return ticket costs only £10, which is more convenient than taking the train, as the train requires a bus transfer.
The zoo tour takes about two hours, and it's quite exhausting due to its hilly terrain, especially near the panda enclosure. Personally, I found the zoo less impressive aside from the pandas. The tigers seemed underfed, and it's more suitable for those who haven't seen pandas and want some exercise. The zoo is also quite easy to get lost in! I was guided by my boyfriend the entire time, and if I were with my directionally challenged friend, we would definitely have gotten lost.
The zoo features pandas, tigers, lions, penguins, giraffes, flamingos, kangaroos, zebras, and various monkeys, making it feel like a roll call of animals. As we were leaving, we were lucky to see a rainbow on a cloudy day, which disappeared after a minute. However, luck wasn't entirely on my side, as I got bird droppings on my sleeve just five minutes into the visit. Fortunately, it missed my head, so I guess that's a small blessing. #Edinburgh #EdinburghZoo #UKPandas #Glasgow
