At the top of the Bastille hill, I was met with a breathtaking view: snow-capped mountains bathed in sunlight, standing still and silent. The sunlight danced on the icy peaks, making them shimmer against the blue sky. It felt surreal, almost like time had paused. There was a peaceful stillness in the air, a kind of quiet beauty that made me forget the world below. Walking along the old stone paths, with crisp mountain air and birdsong as my soundtrack, I felt completely at ease. Grenoble, though a small city, offers a moment of serenity that stays with you long after you leave. #grenoble

This status, consolidated by the annexation to France, allowed it to develop its economy. For one of the best panoramic views, take the iconic Grenoble-Bastille cable car up to Fort de la Bastille. From the top, you’ll see the city spread out below, framed by rugged peaks stretching into the distance. On a clear day, you might even catch a glimpse of Mont Blanc. Just outside the city, the Vercors Massif provides dramatic cliffs and deep gorges, while the Chartreuse region is known for its lush forests and rolling hills. The Belledonne range, with its high-altitude lakes and snow-capped peaks, adds to the region’s spectacular scenery. Whether hiking, driving, or simply admiring the view from the city, the alpine landscape around Grenoble is nothing short of breathtaking.

Grenoble is a very versatile destination with such a wide range of experiences to embrace either alone, as a couple, as a family or with friends. With miles and miles of cycling paths and the culture of bycycling. Grenoble has been rated as the top green destination in the past. My time in Grenoble was very well spent. It included a mix of local attractions and day trips to nearby places. Speaking of things to do in Grenoble. Bastille fortress is the easiest pick. It's on a mountain and the most famous tourist attraction in Grenoble. This is where you get to experience the Les Bulles (the cute bubble shaped cable car) that will take you atop the mountain. Located next to the cable car is Jardin de ville. One of my favourite and most beautiful parks there. It offers a lovely view of both the fortress and the river. Moving on if museums interest you then the dauphine museum is a great stop which is dedicated to the culture, customs, archaeology, and history of the Dauphine region. Some of my other exploits included the museum of Grenoble, grabbing a bite at the saint Laurent neighbourhood.
