Sensoji Tokyo’s Most Beautiful Temple

Sensoji is a Buddhist temple, also known as Asakusa Kannon Temple, which is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Tokyo. What I love most about this temple is the huge wall that surrounds it. Visitors who stop by Sensoji Temple enter from Kaminarimon, or Thunder Gate, which separates Sensoji Temple from Tokyo. A street that will greet you directly beyond the outer walls of the shrine is known as Nakamise, lined with small shops selling all kinds of traditional goods and souvenirs. This shopping area has existed within the temple grounds for centuries, and has played an important role in sustaining culture in Sensoji. Famous traditional Japanese snacks are sold here.
