One Pillar Pagoda is an ancient pagoda in Vietnam built during the reign of King Ly Thai Tong, also known by many different names such as Mat Pagoda, Lien Hoa Dai or Dien Huu Tu. During the Ly Dynasty, the pagoda was located on the land of Thanh Bao village, Quang Duc district, west of Thang Long Imperial Citadel. Today, the pagoda is in Ba Dinh district, located in the park behind Ong Ich Khiem street, next to the Ba Dinh Square complex and President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Because it is located in the complex of Ba Dinh Square and Uncle Ho's Mausoleum, the time the pagoda is open for visitors also depends on these two locations. Accordingly, the temple will welcome guests from 7am to 6pm daily. The duration for each tour usually ranges from 1 to 3 hours. The temple's architecture is inspired by the image of a lotus flower blooming on the water. Lotus is the national flower of Vietnam - a flower representing nobility, sharing and love, a noble symbol of dignity. The overall project includes items such as Lien Hoa Dai, Linh Chieu Lake and stairs to the main hall. Visiting One Pillar Pagoda, visitors will feel the uniqueness of ancient architecture. The entire temple is placed on top of a large stone pillar. The pagoda has the appearance of a lotus flower, only about 3 square meters wide, all made from wood and roofed. The ancient tiled roof is a combination of "Double tricks" - a curved knife shape, above is a dragon shape.
