Stay for three nights. The hotel is heritage not recommended for a person who is afraid things stay alone. The location is perfect at the front gate of the temple of tooth relics. However, one male GSA do not respond well as I told him that the telephine is broken, the fridge inside is very hot and the light in the toilet is broken so many times. Until I checked out the telephine is still broken, the fridge inside is still very hot. But the light is fixed by an electrician who was recommended by male maid not GSA.

Decent clean stay, and good value for the money. Room was small and tidy, clean bathroom, quite nice modern style overall with apparent concrete wall finish ( cool if you ask me and unexpected ). Staff was friendly and helpful, only thing was that the room was direclty in front of the elevator and it was noisy. In the early morning there are monkeys on the balcony searching for food so better not leave the door open.

Room is spacious, have all amenities and toiletries (just missing the slippers). It have heater instead of air conditioner as there is mostly cold here. Centralized control system is a plus. Washroom is comparatively much smaller and just the basic size. Cons: The main thing was the management which was poor and mostly looked after only locals as we came to know by our driver. At check in the room key didn't worked 3 time and they have to call some technical guy to resolve the issue which was actually the issue in room door, still they gave us the same room. When we go to food court for breakfast in morning, it was only 4 set items only which also they decide they want to give or not. For every request it was a no even when we are willing to pay extra for the same. For the meal we had we asked extra sambhar they deny they can't give. We asked for sandwich or any breads which was also unavailable. But after sometime, they give sandwich to some other persons. When we confronted them, they told it is in different meal, we asked to give only sandwich they outright denied, when we said give meal they say come after 11. After complaining and telling at the reception his response was mostly defending and at last only told you can discuss with senior manager. It was our time to leave the city as per our itinerary so we left the place as it is.

The location is fantastic, especially if you want to enjoy views of the famous rock right from the pool — it’s truly a highlight of the stay. The buffet is generous, offering a good mix of local and international dishes, so there’s something for everyone. We stayed in one of the bungalows, which were spacious, surrounded by nature, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. It was a treat to spot different animals around the property, which added a unique charm to the experience. On the downside, the bike rental is significantly overpriced, and it seems that very few guests use them because of this. Additionally, many amenities — even something as basic as extra water — are quite expensive, which takes away slightly from the otherwise enjoyable experience. Overall, it’s a beautiful place in an unbeatable location, with great food and lovely surroundings, but some of the pricing policies could be more guest-friendly.

GGOLDSAINTA hotel with a magnificent view. It is really hard to find such a view. Especially the view from the top bar floor is extraordinary. The rooms could be cleaned more meticulously. It is not dirty but it could be cleaned more meticulously. The breakfast was average, the dinner menu was not very extensive, at least in the bar section. The welcome in the lobby was respectful and smiling. We were offered hot towels and fruit juice as soon as we arrived. The hotel is on the slope of a hill but I think the lack of a link bus service to the city center is a shortcoming.

Travel tip: From Colombo, you can catch a direct bus to Nuwalapitiya. We didn’t know this and went via Kandy, which made the journey longer than necessary. If we had known, we would have taken the direct bus—it’s much easier. Ps:The bus ride is phenomenal—very beautiful views along the way and very cheap. The property is located on a hill and is naturally beautiful, surrounded by trees and birds whose songs make the atmosphere even more serene. It does get a bit cold at night, but it was the perfect kind of chilly—cozy and refreshing. Our room had an amazing view, making it even more special. The stay itself was perfect for our honeymoon: very cozy, comfortable, and clean. The staff were amazing, especially one gentleman at the restaurant (I didn’t catch his name, but I want to mention him). He went above and beyond to help us and was incredibly sweet and warm-hearted—it really made our stay special. A small note: we noticed the pool looked a bit dirty, which some other reviews also mentioned. However, it was clarified in the pool area that they use natural spring water without chemicals, so this is expected and actually a great eco-friendly approach. But This hotel needs some love because this is a very nice place. Another small note: there were some insects, like cockroaches, but that’s expected when staying on a hill in the middle of nature surrounded by trees. Overall, this was a truly wonderful experience and a perfect spot to relax, unwind, and enjoy nature. Highly recommended!!

Everyone we encountered was attentive and genuinely warm, making us feel well cared for. The food was another highlight—delicious and thoughtfully prepared. A particularly nice touch was when they packed us a complimentary to-go lunch for our train journey out of Kandy, which was a pleasant and unexpected gesture. The Bad The lack of air conditioning was a notable downside, especially given Kandy’s humidity. While the property has a charming colonial feel, the absence of a solid door between the bedroom and bathroom was an odd design choice. Although the toilet and shower do have louvered doors, privacy is somewhat compromised. Another issue was the challenging entry system—we found ourselves locked out one night, which was frustrating and inconvenient. The Ugly Unfortunately, the biggest drawback was the ant problem. While some level of bugs is to be expected in a tropical setting, the sheer number of ants, particularly in the bathroom but also in the bedroom, was hard to ignore. It definitely impacted our overall comfort. Overall, The Coffee Bungalow has a lot of charm and some truly wonderful hospitality, but there are a few quirks and inconveniences that might not suit every traveler. If you’re prepared for a bit of rustic charm and can handle the lack of AC and privacy, the warm service and great food may make up for the downsides.

There is a big pool on the grounds and a big jacuzzi with hot water in the room.  Minuses of the hotel: Far from the attractions. Taxi from the center only go there for the price of pick me x2. Hotel taxi are 3 times more expensive. There are no stores and restaurants near the hotel, so inside the hotel prices for food x3, Also after 6pm it is dangerous to be outside because elephants are walking around. Now let's talk about the premium status and the five races. In 7 years of traveling, this is the first hotel that did not have a bathrobe, slippers and toothbrush and toothpaste in the room. The plumbing in the shower leaks, and the doors creak so much that you could call the spirits at night. Regarding the attention to the customer. I mentioned my upcoming birthday in conversation with the manager, but this fact was not used in any way to show any form of attention from the hotel. This is a huge miscalculation on the part of the staff at a premium hotel. We also had a late departure and our request to delay in the hotel for a couple of hours was refused. This was not due to the arrival of new customers, as the manager offered to extend our stay for a fee. For future customers this fact may be decisive in their choice. In general, the hotel is not bad, but the service and flexibility of the staff, as well as individual approach to customers, does not correspond to the premium level and requires improvement.

TTài khoản kháchThe owners and employees at this hotel are so, so lovely. Unfortunately their hotel is not. I almost feel catfished as many of the photos highlighted the bar and pool party atmosphere. This was not the case - the pool was a decent size but in the shade and I actually didn’t see anyone in it. The pool party drinking shots I highly suspect were perhaps not a genuine source. The same goes for the bar which is massive and attended to by several lovely young, bored gentlemen as both times I popped up (once for dinner) I was the only patron. Again no party atmosphere or even people - which is a shame as it is a big venue. Fortunately next door was another venue for some decent cocktails and music which saved the boredom somewhat. The bedroom was a decent size with a small fridge (but didn’t work), the bathroom was small, felt dirty, no hand soap or soap for the shower (apart from leftover previous occupants - and that was gross). The pressure was poor making showering difficult and there was plaster on the floor from some damage - not cleaned up. The bed was massive and comfortable with air conditioning and a fan so sleep was good. Finally, and to repeat, the staff were lovely. Very hospitable and the location is about a ten minute walk to the Sacred Tooth Temple and Kandy Lake. So great location. Would I stay there again - no. Would I pop in to say hello to the owners and next door for a cocktails - possibly!

The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were spotless, with a supply of hot water to beat the chilly weather. The villa has a cozy common area with a fireplace, perfect for unwinding after a day of sightseeing. The garden is well-maintained, providing a peaceful spot to enjoy your morning tea or coffee. Free Wi-Fi was available, though I recommend disconnecting for a while to soak in the tranquility of the setting. The on-site restaurant served delicious, freshly prepared meals. Their Sri Lankan breakfast was a highlight – hearty, flavorful, and made with love. The staff was accommodating to dietary preferences, ensuring a delightful culinary experience. Villa Mount Royal is a perfect choice for those seeking a blend of comfort and natural beauty in Nuwara Eliya. Whether you're a couple looking for a romantic getaway or a family in need of a peaceful retreat, this villa ticks all the boxes.

TTài khoản kháchRoom is spacious, have all amenities and toiletries (just missing the slippers). It have heater instead of air conditioner as there is mostly cold here. Centralized control system is a plus. Washroom is comparatively much smaller and just the basic size. Cons: The main thing was the management which was poor and mostly looked after only locals as we came to know by our driver. At check in the room key didn't worked 3 time and they have to call some technical guy to resolve the issue which was actually the issue in room door, still they gave us the same room. When we go to food court for breakfast in morning, it was only 4 set items only which also they decide they want to give or not. For every request it was a no even when we are willing to pay extra for the same. For the meal we had we asked extra sambhar they deny they can't give. We asked for sandwich or any breads which was also unavailable. But after sometime, they give sandwich to some other persons. When we confronted them, they told it is in different meal, we asked to give only sandwich they outright denied, when we said give meal they say come after 11. After complaining and telling at the reception his response was mostly defending and at last only told you can discuss with senior manager. It was our time to leave the city as per our itinerary so we left the place as it is.
