very nice place and staff. A top service, excellent dinner and breakfast, experienced safari guy. Rooms are romantic, clean and enough space. The shower was outside, cool feeling.

An absolute gem! We stayed in the self-catering rooms which were really nicely decorated and comfortable. There is a lovely pool and braai area reserved for only the two rooms. It was wonderful as my husband and I could use one room and my parents the other, but we still had the shared entertainment area to use together. We will go back every time we are in the area! Fabulous food at the restaurant and go-out-of-their-way-friendly staff! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The food and wine were terribly bad. Unfortunately, we found both dinner and breakfast really disgusting. The room was nice (grate view!) and the people were sweet and trying their best to help as good as possible, but that didn't make up for the bad food unfortunately.

- great place to relax and unwind - beautiful and clean room - very private and unique location - offer a variety of safaris, Schotia safari is a must! - unbelievably nice and kind staff - awesome breakfast and dinner setting, food also great Thank you to everyone at Hitgeheim. Outstanding facilities, service and accomodation . Breathtaking location and views. Archie and Collen outstanding hosts. Closeness of Addo an added bonus. If you are planning a visit to the Eastern Cape Hitgeheim is a must.

We are very disappointed. The booking was included de 2 safari. They didn’t gave us the right information because off that we lost our first safari. When we came in hitgeheim resort they right a way went in the defence not in a proper way. They brought us to our room, we reserved a room with a private pool, but there was no pool. Lucky enough we could show fotos from our booking. The room we booked was not available only the next day, so they gave us the first night a old dirty room with no water no coffee nothing. The next day after the second safari in addo we got the room we reserved. The dinners where oke, not the quality we are used from south Africa. The last day we met the owner to ask for refund from the first night. This man was horrible. He start talking really loud to us 2 woman ; a real narcist. And then he put his hand in his pocket and showed us the money in his pocket and told us he was very rich and he promised us to refund the whole amount. We had to send him an email with our details and walked bla bla bla away. We did 2 times what he asked for but the basterd never gave any reply and off course no money back. So beware addo is nice but Hitgeheim is 1 big old dirty flop.

We had a fabulous 4 nights here taking in the Addo elephant park and the Scotia safari with a day to just chill around the pool and enjoy the incredible views. The trips were amazing and the guides were so knowledgeable and friendly. The food at Hitgeheim is beautifully presented and extremely good. As a vegetarian I was well catered for. My husband loved the meat! A lovely room, spotlessly clean. Stunning position. Felt very spoilt

What an amazing lodge, everyone so friendly. Staff couldnt have been anymore helpful. Our room was beautiful , clean ,aircon as needed. Breakfast great choices even for little ones . As we had 3yr old in our party. Easy access to Addo with everything arranged from the lodge for safari. They also arranged tooth and claw safari at Schotia game reserve . Great wine cellar . And a huge thankyou to Archie the owner for all his stories about his life in Africa, i wish it was made into a book . This is certainly a place recommended
