Design hotel! Really cool! Love the details as well!

What can you say? This hotel has everything you need for a city break in Vienna. Beautifully decorated, Josefine is cosy with a modern take on classic themes. We had a cosy room, tastefully decorated and well equipped with a comfortable bed and plush decor. A beautiful separate shower and WC, and hand basin in the room made it feel like we had taken rooms in 1920s-era Vienna, as Christopher Isherwood would have done on a flying visit to Vienna. We loved the Roberts radio, which reminded us of the one in our first flat and the ability to stream music. When in the room we listened to Austria's Classic-Radio which added to the ambience of the room. We usually like to stream content to the TV, but this wasn't available on the TV in the room, but saying that, we didn't have time to watch movies. Downstairs you have the Phonotek room, where you can get a drink or a coffee whilst perusing the vast vinyl collection ad playing some bangers. We liked some of the old German records especially ones by James Last and the extensive range of disco floor fillers. We also like piped 1920s-1930s music around the hotel. Josefine has a decadent sibling that opens after dark called Barfly where you can sample some of the finest cocktails available in the whole of Vienna. The sounds of Jazz from. 1920's through to the 1960s ease the pain of your feet whilst you sip on a Whiskey Sour or a Rusty Nail. It's one of the best bars in Vienna, according to Timeout. Breakfast at Josefine is a ritual of the highest standard. You'll have to book and after you have been seated by the lovely staff. We had the standard breakfast included and you get the widest range of options from omelettes, salmon platters, Viennese porridge, toast, beautiful local bread (including Gluten Free Options), bacon and eggs and continental options. There are additional options available such as Eggs Benedict at extra cost. Once you've made your choice, there'll be coffee and juice served in anticipation of the main event. And the main event is something else. Your breakfast choice is served to you on stand, just like the ones used for afternoon tea, and it makes breakfast feel unique and glamorous. All housed in Barfly's beautifully decorated green, gold and rich velvet red decor. A real experience and one of the best hotel breakfasts. With those little attentions to details you expect in hotels charging twice the price. And that's the thing about Josefine, the little details. The key for your room and the key fob; the bottle of wine to great you; the coffee in the Phonotek room whilst you wait for your room; the dressing gowns and slippers; the little notebook they give you so you can record your stay. All these little things make Josefine different along with the ability to step back in time. And did we mention the roof terrace? What a fantastic place. If you like 1920’s nostalgia then this is perfect !!!! The rooms are amazing. The cocktail bar is a must, the cocktail menu is bigger than an encyclopaedia !!!! Very easy to get into central Vienna via u-Bhan (underground). The staff are very courteous and helpful. Would highly recommend

Great location, perfectly designed Boutique Hotel in the style of the 1920‘s. Great Bar, cosy rooms and a perfectly equipped „phonotek“, a lounge room with an LP-Player and more than 3.000 records. Very nice breakfast with vegan choices. Family friendly, perfectly trained staff!

Best little City hotel in Vienna. Excellent staf,rooms and surrounding. Just 100 meters from the biggest pedestrian street. Modern interior mixed perfectly with old style hotel. Good morning coffee and even a cozy room for smoking. We will be back.

The staff was exceptionally helpful and thoughtful. It was apparent that they were dedicated to making sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. The rooms were a tad small for two people for four days, but overall everything was very comfortable and pleasant.

As you enter, your senses are assaulted by the plum covered grand entrance stairway to the reception. This quirky. cozy, boutique property resonates with the atmosphere of the 1920's. Mind you, rooms have all the modern amenities; elevator, wi-fi, honesty bar, etc. Keeping with the theme, you actually are provided a key to open your guest room. On the lower level is BarFly's , a sexy, yet subdued bar; perfect for a rendezvous or a late night cocktail. And of course, music from the 1920-40's playing in the background. They offer an adventurous cocktail menu, and I tried (for the first time) an absinthe sour; terrific! The hotel staff is a combination of typical Austrian efficiency and helpfulness. The Josefine is conveniently located on a quiet street off the Mariahifestrasse shopping district, and a one minute walk to the Underground station. A real gem tucked away in Vienna's 6th district.

We just returned from a long weekend staying at the Josefine. It's a great place to stay, full of character and with friendly accomodating staff. Our room was lovely, comfy bed, plenty of space and powerful warm shower - important when cold and snowy outside. The breakfast was great, and we really loved the Barfly's cocktail bar in the basement. They make a great Vesper and some terrifc gin cocktails and we really enjoyed chatting to the mixologist - fascinating! As others have commented, the location is a little bit further out from the historic centre but it's still perfectly walkable from all the attractions or accessible by the very frequent U-trains. It was a perfect choice for our first visit to Vienna. As we told the very nice receptionist, we will definitely return!

We stayed for two nights at the end of September 2023, booked basically as somewhere to sleep. The double room was quite small - which we expected. However the decor was excellent - my wife loved it. Also very clean and well maintained. No TV in the room, but I gather we could have asked for one. No coffee/tea making facility, but there was no charge when we used room service for these. The hotel location is 2+km from the main attractions and the old city centre, so you need to use public transport to avoid hefty taxi bills. But it is right beside the popular Mariahilfer Strass shopping *****. Lots of local convenience stores, bars and food outlets.
