Always enjoy staying at the cliff house. Nice Breakfast, ok rooms with an incredible view and the sound of the ocean all night.

Absolutely loved our stay here. We stay in hotels all over the country and this is probably our favorite. The hotel is not much but the rooms are clean. The bedding is clean and fresh. The towels are fluffy and plentiful. The view is literally unobstructed ocean view. The way they have the pool area decorated is just gorgeous. You feel like you’re at a high end resort. We didn’t get a chance to try the restaurant but all the reviews we read were 10/10. The shower in our room was low - the pressure was also low but it was manageable. I can’t get over the vibe this place gives you. The feeling of freedom and peace. It also felt very safe. We could see our vehicle from our room. They offered a small continental breakfast with bagels, bread, cereal, muffins, yogurt, juice and coffee. It was very appreciated and actually delicious. I can’t wait to come back and stay again. I would recommend this property to anyone. Absolutely stunning.

My 2nd time here. The property isn’t super high end or fancy. The room is kind of small and old. But the ocean view, sound of the ocean at night is incredible! And there’s a decent free breakfast. If the price is right…it’s a good place to stay

Floor was very slippery. small space. bed comfort was good. ocean view was excellent. getting to and from property was circuitous.

This is a very dated building with lots of maintenance needs. The parking is tight and can not accommodate an RV or anyone pulling even a small trailer. It is remote with difficult access to the beach. The beautiful views of the views of the ocean are looking out your front window over the walkway. The swimming pool is big and from there the ocean view is stunning. The best part about this place in the restaurant. The food was awesome! The complimentary breakfast was a sit down breakfast with quiet a few meal choices. I heard that on weekdays it is more like a continental breakfast. The service at the restaurant was top notch. This is such a beautiful spot. I just wish they would update the rooms. Did I mention tiny? I have never stayed in such a small room. Seriously small. If you expect to hang out in your room at all you will be on the bed, which was nice, but watch out for the protruding bed frame corners. Ouch! I hit my knee twice and it hurt! Amazing location, excellent restaurant, but a tiny outdated room. I wish I could have gave this more stars for the excellent food.

The location of the Cliff House is spectacular, it literally sits about 15 feet above the water, with the ocean right out your door! We visited during the recent high tides and surf and did not feel in any danger, but it was spectacular to see! The restaurant downstairs is a hidden gem -- great food, service and views!
The downside is that it is an old hotel and it shows. Our water valve in the shower (room #4) seemed to randomly deliver hot or cold water depending on its mood. The light in the fan over the bed randomly went out, then went back on again when we played with it. We enjoyed the noise of the ocean during the night, but when we closed our window about 5AM, we had to turn on a white noise app on our phone and wear earplugs to block out the sound of the TV next door through the wall -- not sure who turns on their TV at 5 AM but we sure heard it! Cliff House is generally a great place, but it has quirks and is showing its age.

We loved the view from the room. Dinner and breakfast were wonderful. We liked the food and service was good.
What we didn't appreciate is paying a lot of money for a bare-bones room with no microwave and no coffee maker. This is standard now in most hotels. We also didn't appreciate having to wait until after 3 pm to check-in, and were told by an employee that the front desk would provide us with hot water for my husband's tea. When we asked, manager at front said "no" we can't provide coffee or hot water - wait for a 1/2 hour for restaurant to open. The least they could do is have a coffee and hot water machine for the guests to use in the lobby. Had to schlepp to Carpinteria to get coffee at Starbucks. Unacceptable management!!

Beautiful ocean front hotel. Every room has a beautiful view. Enjoyed both a sunrise & sunset. Can’t wait to book this hotel again.
