This is a historical hotel so some things are to be expected- it was a fairly small room and bathroom. However, it was well done and had a comfy bed. The lobby and courtyard area are beautiful and match what you’d hope to see in a hotel like this. The restaurant was decent and the complimentary breakfast was a great bonus. In this area/town this hotel is definitely much nicer than anything else you can find!

The entire staff were very friendly and attentive. The decore was very attractive and so retro. The Ribeye dinner we had in their restaurant was superb. There were a couple of drawbacks, however. The room we had was very small, but understandably so, since it is a period hotel. Secondly, the main breakfast item, a build-your-own-breakfast-burrito, ran out by 9:00 AM during an 8 AM to 10 AM breakfast window.
Still, all the before mentioned positives, plus the property's charm and vibe outweighed the negatives. I will most likely be back.

Charming historic hotel. Rooms are smalll and bathroom smaller, but bed was comfortable. They have a bar and restaurant which is very convenient.

Wonderful historic hotel with great amenities and welcoming staff. The gift shop, book nook selections and jigsaw puzzle area were charming!! The bar and restaurant were excellent!! I salute the owners for bringing the hotel back to life!!!

I love this historic hotel. Beautiful restoration, super charming, friendly staff, and our favorite restaurant that we make sure to have dinner every time we are in the area. Convenient to I10 and at the crossroad of 3 major National Parks. Lovely free breakfast too!!

We loved that this hotel was historic. The room was exceptionally clean! We were thrilled there was a bar and dining room right on the premises. Lots of atmosphere.

Even though it’s about out in the middle of nowhere, this hotel does live up to being called an oasis in the middle of the desert. Super comfortable, clean hotel room, carpet was soft and the bathroom was clean and nicely finished. Huge king bed. Friday night had live music till 10, and the restaurant and lounge was nice.
There’s a pretty active UP train track right across the street, but it’s just apart of the Texas small town charm.

Sylvia was our waitress in the restaurant, very informative about the town of Van Horn, TX. Food was tasty and had large portions. You could share, I believe they do charge a plate split fee.
Would highly recommend to other travelers. History of hotel is interesting. Only a couple hours from Big Bend National Park which unfortunately is the least visited NP.

We did like the 5 trains that came through the town near the hotel all night but we really like this place
