Nice beautiful hotel close to the airport, N2 and Gateway

The hotel is in a great location and the staff were helpful and friendly. I didn't particularly like the restaurant/ room service menu as it ONLY had milkshakes on their drinks menu. You have to inquire about other drinks like wine, juices, coffee etc. It would be nicer if all the drinks prices were listed. The kettle in my room was dirty but housekeeping and the front desk were apologetic and replaced it with a clean kettle quickly. Every cafe or restaurant around the hotel opens at 9a.m, so I recommend paying for the hotel breakfast buffet if you're an early bird like me. I learnt about loadshedding after coming back from a day out and finding no power except a light and the tv in my room. For foreign guests who don't know about it, it might be a nice touch if the hotel could place the loadshedding schedule in guest rooms so it doesn't come as an unwelcome surprise. The bed was comfy and the wifi was usually fast. Overall, I had a good stay at the hotel.

Conveniently situated, and easily accessible, opposite entrance to Gateway Shopping mall. Safe parking for guests. Spoilt for choice with eating establishments across the road. Clean and safe. Rooms are comfortable, with small fridge and kettle. Friendly and helpful staff.

Great hotel. I enjoyed the breakfast and the room was clean.

The team was very welcoming , starting from the security officer at the entrance. He ensured that we felt safe and welcomed. The reception staff was amazing , very friendly people indeed . Our room was very neat , and housekeeping team made sure that i remained clean throughout our stay .

Positives: Opposite Gateway. Lots of wonderful shops and restaurants. Spar supermarket diagonal, in the Nedbank building. 2 doors down there's also a late night little shop selling groceries and snacks. Stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment with kitchette, with microwave and dishes. Aircon in main bedroom, but not in other bedroom.

Location = 5/5 Great location opposite Gateway Shopping Centre with lots of shopping and food options. Passing traffic can be heard from the rooms so if you are a light sleeper, this may be a problem Rooms = 4/5 Spacious, clean and comfortable. Room amenities = 3/5 Would expect a bit more. Some bathroom amenities were not replenished on our second night. Had to call on the 3rd night for a shower cap. More attention to detail required here… Overall a good stay.

It's very nice hotel not far from beach, 24 hours of services well kept garden and swimming pool as well. The fatest wifi i have ever see,caring staff that make me feels confortable. Clean room and free two bottles of water everyday. Gym is also there.

It’s a beautiful hotel and I loved the surfboard/beach theme throughout. Untrained staff however let the hotel down. Room smelt foul, phone in room wasn’t working, plug in bath wasn’t sealed. Air control was switched off and I woke up soaked as it was so hot in the room. The waiter in the breakfast dining room didn’t know what butter was. Reception was just a disaster when I booked in after a long and very tiring day. It took ages, and it was clear that the staff member did not understand the system. My original room was changed for a room far more inferior. It’s sad as it is a hotel where I always wanted to stay. The night manager was great though, and she was very apologetic. Hopefully I will get another opportunity that will leave a better impression.

Our stay was fine and the rooms clean, check in staff were good and so were the cleaning staff. Unfortunately the breakfast let us down, the breakfast was very average and bland. On Christmas day we arrived at breakfast at 9:30am and were turned away by the staff at the breakfast area who advised us that the breakfast time had changed but we were not given any notice when checking in or in our room. We felt very dissapoint especially on christmas day when we expected a lovely special breakfast with our family. They eventually let us in but they packed away the food as we dished our food and we felt so badly treated and rushed. Not sure i would stay here again or book my staff here again.

Great experience with Protea Fire and Ice. We had a 4 hour delay on the drive to Durban and was welcomed by very friendly staff, and a free room upgrade. The upgrade meant the kids had their own bed which was extremely beneficial after a 12 hour drive. Great location, just cross the road to Gateway. Ample parking.

Loved the theme set throughout the hotel. Staff were friendly and welcoming. People went out of their way to see if you needed anything. Loved the cleanliness and attention to detail.
