Back at Brakanes for a few summer days . The scenery from the hotel that is on the edge of the majestic Hardanger Fjord is like a ever changing painting Wonderful dishes in the restaurant based on local supplies and sparkling Wine from the Apple farms that slopes down the green mountain sides My happy place in Norway ❤️

Lovely old world charm. Great garden/area outside where you can relax and enjoy the magnificent view down the Fjord. Staff were very friendly and the rooms very comfortable. Well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

We travelled from the US to enjoy a couple of days at wonderful Brakanes Hotel in Ulvik. From the moment we arrived the views were impeccable, I have never visited a location where the views are as breathtaking as here, it’s truly one of a kind. What an amazing place to visit. Make sure you ask for a renovated room if available. The hotel itself is a bit outdated, however with the service oriented staff and lovely food and beverage offerings we truly enjoyed our stay. Ulvik has so much to offer, the cider tours, guided trails, kayak rentals or a refreshing dip in the fjord. This is a must visit location during your Norwegian fjord getaway.

Very unique location just steps away from the fjord. Majestic views! Easily walkable to restaurants,etc. We rented kayaks from the hotel so really convenient.

Ulvik was a repositioning stop for us from Flam to the dinner at IRIS/Salmon eye, so we didn't expect much from the small town nor the hotel. But it turned out to be a surprise to the upside, compared to Flam Fretheim or Bergen Opus XVI hotel. We booked a premium room with Fjord view and what a view that embraced us upon entering the room. The hardinger Fjord with imposing cliffs and narrow pathway is one lawn away from our eyes. Our room was on 3rd floor and both balcony doors open out to the balcony with simple furnishing for an outdoor drink or dinner. The room has a light Nordic touch, light blue and light birch with mustard color very comfortable lounge chairs. Instead of the heavy or period decor, this furnishing style makes the room look airy, spacious and chic. Kudos to the taste. There is a decorative fireplace that adds a period touch but with a contemporary flare. The heating panel actually worked here. The town was small with very limited food options other than the hotel itself or a Cafe next door, but that aside a walk along the river to watch how evening light and cloud moved around the seeing sun was extremely satisfying. The calm water makes incredible reflection of the world above. The view couldn't be better. The following day when we got to Rosendal to board Salmon Eye, our hotel room had frontal Fjord View as well but the cliff drop wasn't as dramatic as Brakanes view. Glad we took many pictures we did. Other than that, the service was efficient and friendly, breakfast was good but not elaborate. No espresso machine in the room but there is one in the lobby and there is a tea kettle in the room. All in, amazing view, chic room and all beyond our expectations.

This hotels location is just perfect. We had a room with balcony which overlooked the fjords and it was absolutely gorgeous. The room is clean and modern and the beds are very comfortable. There is one pool indoors which is while fairy small and not too deep (1.25 m) a very lovely place to just soak and splash about. We had the fortune that it was empty both times we went. If you enjoy the scenery of the fjords this hotel is perfect. Spacious, clean and comfortable.

Brakanes is a lovely, genteel hotel with beautiful views of the fjords. I’d have given it the toprating but for the very limited and expensive dinner menu and the fact that you had to pay extra for the hot tub.

We went for lunch only, lovely view outside on a terrace. Disappointed with the food, size of the salad was very small. No bread on the side. Waiter didn't care about us, never asked if we were okay and when we paid neither. I would recommend to go next door to the Green Café.
