Hostal Tena Ñaui

We ended up staying here for a total of almost 2 weeks. We would stay here and then check out to go do treks in the jungle, but then always return to this hotel. The property is beautiful, kept in perfect condition. Everything is very clean, there is always hot water. They have a free baggage storage service, that's nice. The staff were all very friendly, helpful. The kitchen is well stocked, lots of pots and pans, dishes etc. There's a nice outside area where you can sit and enjoy a view of the city. Because we kept checking in and leaving and coming back, we got to stay in a total of three rooms, all the rooms that we have seen were really nice. All of them are out of direct sunlight. All the rooms are very spacious. One nice thing is that they ask that you keep your shoes just outside the main entrance, but you can walk around in sandals. This is part of why the floors and everything else are so clean and beautiful. And it also establishes that you can trust the place, your stuff is safe sitting out by the door. The hostel is maybe 15 minutes walk away from the main part of the city, it's just removed enough so that you don't have the noises of the city around you and it's peaceful. It has a really great view over the city, there are some little shops and restaurants just a couple minutes walk away. We really enjoyed our stay here and if we come back, we will definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends.

They tried to take 30,- $ more! Even though breakfast was included, the tried to charge me and than they canceled the breakfast the last morning. Guess they did not like that I wrote them that we have a contract via *******. They told me that they did not know the person who tried to take more money and the possible chef did not even say halo. Last day the unknown person was there again with a big grin. Never again!!! If you like to get what you booked-just forget it!!! We managed to cancel the 14 days and I left.

I arrived, not exactly knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. The spectacular views are paralleled, the staff was gracious and friendly. Breakfast was tasty with a voice of scrambled or fried eggs. Get a room with a balcony! I highly recommend this place and expect to stay here, again. Nashley is a wonderful hostess and Indira is charming. They will arrange amazing tours and expeditions. An overall delightful experience!

Excellent staff, good location and convenient price. Cleanliness could improve.

Very nice and clean hostel. Breakfast is really good. Terrace has a nice view and it’s a great place to hang out and relax. I wouldn’t really recommend to reserve an appartement instead of a room. The rooms are cleaner and nicer. Overall very good place to stay at. They also organise tours which are nice and highly recommended!

It was relaxing after a day of buses from Otavalo

Liked the view from the room. Its about 6 min drive from the center, which i enjoy being away from city traffic. Totally worth it to get a separate space with a small kitchen/bathroom.I also enjoyed having the option to add breakfast. It was very convenient.

Really fantastic hostel. Some reviews criticize the location but the location is incredible with 10/10 views. It's only 500 metres from the road or a $1.50 taxi from the city centre. Our room (Yura) had an incredible view I'd expect to pay $100 for, not $15. Great kitchen, nice gardens and lounge, small bar, laundry service, real hostel info about the whole region available, book library. All in all, one of the best places we've stayed in south America in 4+ months. Posted January 2022!
