The hotel is disgusting. We were planned to stay there for 4 nights from Aug 22 but finally we stayed 1 night then moved to another hotel. There are no reception service to check in, we were waited for 30 mins and end up 1 staff came to argue with us to say we just waited for 10 mins. No lift, need to carry the luggage ourselves. No heater for cold weather. Think about if in winter there are no heater, you will be freezing in the room and no one will coming to help you. The waiter drop the food up of my clothes when serving. No apologies AT ALL. Can’t request what’s the food you going to have. It’s all based on the waiters recommendations. No wifi service until we paid 10 pound to the young boy in restaurant to help to set up for us. The room had insects. Facilities broken. Door without lock etc…

Très mauvais accueil à celui d 'Aberfoyle !!! -Accueil : Après avoir roulé plusieurs heures pour se rendre à l'hôtel nous n'avions qu'une seule envie ,manger et se poser au calme. Nous arrivons pour faire le check-in et la réceptionniste Emilia , nous dit 5 min j arrive ! ( pas de bonjour, de svp ou autre formulation de politesse !) Elle arrive après 15 min !!!!!! sans s excuser et nous parle très sèchement ( on s'aperçois qu' elle n est pas contente du tout) on lui demande pour les heures du petit déjeuner , elle nous réponds heu, d'abord je dois avoir votre carte visa . (toujours d'un ton vraiment pas cool du tout ). elle nous fait notre check-in en claquant les clés et nos cartes brutalement sur le comptoir, -Restaurant: Les serveurs pas sympathique non plus, pareil pas de bonjour, le repas était vraiment de mauvaise qualité , je trouve ça tellement honteux pour un hôtel de normalement 4* !!! Lors de notre séjour, nous avons fait plusieurs hôtels et b&b et je vous assure que nous avons été reçus simplement mais tellement chaleureusement et la qualité des produits était excellente. Quel contraste ! Nous qui nous réjouissont tellement de venir à cet hôtel au vu des commodités et du cadre ; c'est sur que je n'y reviendrais plus et je ne le recommanderai pas ! -Petit déjeuner : Le lendemain au réveil, encore une belle déception, comment vous dire que c etait vide . Personnellement je trouve que ce qui définit le mieux cet hotel est l 'apparence. D'un 1er abord c est tres joli, le cadre est verdoyant, l'interieur est tres élégant . Les chambres sont spacieuses mais c'est tout. -L'hygiène de la chambre etait passable .

Location amazing , staff friendly BUT food was awful !!! Had to order off restaurant menu as ate after 8 pm as they were too busy to accommodate us earlier , food was more like basic café standard…. Really disappointing

Corridors smelled of damp, breakfast poor only lukewarm, no variation available on set breakfast, booking was eventful due to having more than 2 dogs hotel would not let customer cancel booking fir apar**ents instead of hotel room, then unaware of three dogs when they agreed to it to save cancel booking, room very dated and cleaned to an average standard, not 4 star standard, hairs found on bedding and in bath on arrival , evening meal of haddock and chips only warm again, chips looked 2 days hold ( tripled cooked advertised probably cooked once each day until needed, both me and my partner had sickness and diarrhoea after this meal , desert was rubbery obviously been microwaved to cause sponge to become rubbery, health complex dirty , tiles falling off walls, some facilities not working showers being one off them , was tried to be charged for other people adding their meals and drinks to our room tab ( no security checks at complex when adding to a room number) power cut on last night, advised security lighting only no offer of any lighting for room, reception staff un helpful, waiters and staff not dressed correctly and looked scruffy, workmen working on lights during breakfast causing dust to fall on our food ( didn’t say anything in case they charged us extra for the dust) , breakfast menu very basic unless prepared to pay extra £8 supplements on top of £15 already paid, disappointing trip at a McDonald’s resort as we have stayed at other resorts and other brands

After driving 7 hours for my birthday weekend I could not have envisaged the catalogue of incompetence I was about to experience. Reception couldn’t find my booking despite me showing them the booking number on my phone. The girl on reception handed the hotel phone at me and told me to deal with it. I couldn’t use my own phone as the hotel wi-if was not working. Finally they gave me a room. When we got there the door was ajar and all the furniture had been pushed to the middle of the room. I went back to reception where I was told by a it was being decorated. Tried sending me to another room that was also being decorated, before putting us into a disabled room with the heating off. The temperature outside was 3 degrees. We had to go downstairs to warm up. We finally got to our room after 9pm when the room was a little warmer. When I asked to speak to a Manager I was informed he went home at 3pm but he’d contact me next day. No contact was made. Throughout this ordeal I was treated like this was my fault. There were no apologies and no attempts to compensate us. Their main focus on checking out was making sure they had my ******* booking details so they could get their money. A beautiful hotel which should have offered an amazing experience. The hotel was not cheap but the service from the reception and management was not befitting such a lovely place. I hope all Macdonald hotels aren’t run the same. On a positive note, the bar and restaurant staff were first class.

Nice place to stay. The room was great. The bar area is a little disappointing though, the 2 bar men were also responsible for preparing drinks for the restaurant which left a long queue at the bar. The drinks are overpriced, I get that the location is remote but it the prices were unreasonable. I was also so surprised that there was no room service available.

Serene and secluded location with excellent bedding. It ranks in the top 10 of comfy hotel pillows and mattress. Food is excellent but my chicken breast portion and accompanying veggies were minuscule and I had to order a starter afterward. Nice breakfast with quality ingredients. Area around the hotel is lovely. Would definitely stay again.

Tv problem when we arrived took three tv later to fix problem, maintenance guys were great but reception did not care ! Time we checked in a 3pm and 2.5 hours to fix the tv ! Dangerous stairs leading from bedroom to lounge area / bathroom in bedroom no reason for them to be there ? Hotel tired but suppose adds to the character of the hotel and grounds view were breathtaking.cooked breakfast was small to say the least but plenty of coffee and toast, pastries etc .checkout was surprising we ask if we could leave the car there while we had a quick walk around the reply " stay as long as you want " :-)) ladies at reception must have had a bad day the evening before lols but nice touch to let us stay longer:-))) over all nice location clean hotel maybe tired interior but adds to the character of the building and area . Would stay there again
