Hillcrest Lodge

It is a good place for a short stay. It seems some rooms are tiny. I got a small room which is only enough to put a double bed. My advice is to confirm the room size before you book.

I booked this accommodation in Oct 2021 for Chris**as & Boxing Day. All was confirmed in writing & verbally less than a week before Chris**as. At 10.35pm on Chris**as Eve he texted me saying "the booking was cancelled because of double booking". Very late in the day! We live in Essex and we were in Bedfordshire by then. We had been badly let down by this manager. The trea**ent was appalling and very upsetting as we were looking forward to a happy Chris**as.

Despite appearing like this will be a modest hotel, this is in fact a shared council house. Some of the other tenants were up until 1 or 2am in the kitchen, and were very audible in the room I was staying in (Maple), and then some were up at 5:30am clattering again in the kitchen and banging doors (not making for great sleep). The mattress was lumpy as hell and I could feel almost every spring (again not great sleep). The cleaners come on a Friday and were very noisy. It was mostly clean but if you think you have an en-suite or a ‘luxury apar**ent’ (as one of my colleagues who was also staying here thought they had booked) think again! There is on street free parking if you can get a space, but no private parking to speak of.
