I had a wonderful stay at Red House & Old Lane-ChengGong Inn! The place is very clean and well-maintained, with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The host is super responsive and helpful, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. I really appreciated the many free amenities provided—it felt like everything I needed was already taken care of. The Japanese-inspired design throughout the inn adds a unique and calming touch, making the space feel special. My room was very comfortable, perfect for a restful stay. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!

I had a truly wonderful stay at here. The location couldn’t be better—right across from Tainan Park, it’s peaceful yet still within walking distance to the train station and local eateries. The atmosphere of the inn feels both cozy and refreshing, surrounded by greenery that makes you forget you’re in the middle of the city. The room was spotless and thoughtfully designed, with natural light, soft bedding, and just the right touch of simplicity. Every detail showed the owner’s care—from the locally roasted coffee in the common area to the warm welcome when I arrived. I especially loved the small garden space where you can relax with a cup of tea in the afternoon. What stood out most was the hospitality. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready with local travel tips and food recommendations. Their genuine kindness made me feel like I was visiting an old friend rather than staying at a hotel. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Tainan. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates comfort, warmth, and a touch of nature in the heart of the city.

The hostel is easy to reach from train and bus station walking around 30 minutes. The front desk staff are very professional and have good online check in form. The sitting area is quite good and traditional and have a reasonable pantry with free hot drinks and some snacks. The dorm rooms are of good size with large spacious bed with curtains. The shower and toilets are on different floors and are reasonably clean. The building looks quite a traditional structure and you need to climb several steps and the staircases are very long and narrow. If you have many luggage and suitcases you will have a good workout in reaching your room. Overall the place gives a good traditional experience of Tainan and Taiwan and its worth the money charged. The location is the most ideal and you can walk to nearly all important tourist places from here. They also provide their own folded direction map. This was for me the best professionally managed owner managed hostel I have ever stayed in and you really feel immersed in Tainan staying at this Hostel.

The place was very quaint and peaceful. It is only a short walk to the train station so it is very accesible. The room is small but was ok for us. Will definitely consider booking again when I visit Tainan.

Nhà nghỉ Old Man Captain tọa lạc tại một vị trí đắc địa - n*** trước ga TRA Đài Nam, vô cùng thuận tiện cho du khách. Tuy nhiên, lối vào hơi khó tìm vì nằm bên trong FamilyMart cạnh ga, nên tôi mất một lúc mới tìm được đường vào. Gần đó cũng có một trạm xe đạp Ubike, giúp việc khám phá thành phố trở nên dễ dàng. Nhân viên thân thiện và nói tiếng Anh tốt, giúp việc nhận phòng và giao tiếp chung trở nên thuận tiện. Về phòng ngủ tập thể, giường khá đơn giản, và phòng khá nhỏ. Không hẳn là bẩn, nhưng cũng không đặc biệt sạch sẽ. Nếu bạn chỉ tìm một nơi để nghỉ ngơi một hoặc hai đêm, nơi này đáp ứng được nhu cầu, nhưng đừng mong đợi gì quá cầu kỳ. Nhìn chung, đây là một lựa chọn tốt cho những du khách tiết kiệm, ưu tiên vị trí hơn sự thoải mái.

The stay was nice, the hostel is very pretty, there is. free washing machine but be aware of people who move your stuff while it’s drying, forgot a sweater because of that!! Also the aircon could work better, there was a sour smell in my room during my whole stay.

This hotel is in the north of the city, so if you don't enjoy walking then use a taxi or the local buses. The room was a nice size for one person, and the decor was quite remarkable: there are bilingual signs on every wall and on any surfaces too - I found it charming in a cartoon way, but so could see how it might irritate other people. There are plenty of ATMs and places to eat nearby. It was a fine budget choice.
