The Authentic Village Boutique Hotel

We stayed unfortunately only one night in this amazing hotel. The place is really cozy but luxury, romantic and extremely well located. It does also offer parking place at 2 minutes distance, which is definitely a plus considering the local geography. Staff really friendly, nice and helpful. There's no breakfast, but there's a coffee machine and a close bakery. On the down side, there are a lot of stairs, but nothing can be done against it, it's how the village is shaped. Room could be bigger: we were a bit tight with two suitcases. Apart from that, I would considering come back there again and again for a longer stay.

Fantastic hotel in Crete, which I truly cannot recommend enough. Booked a taxi for us from the airport and the helpful nature of the service only continued to improve from this point. The reception staff are brilliant, they could not do enough for us and give your hotel stay the best start possible, the addition of paper copies of maps was really helpful - as was the explanation provided on your arrival. The standard of the rooms are first class and the additional features of extensive toiletries in the bathroom and even a clothes steamer to easily sort those crushed items from travelling - are excellent and clearly very well thought through. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the friendly cleaning team are accommodating to the time you leave your room for the day and do a fantastic job returning the room to how it looked when you first walked in. Undoubtedly a nice little added bonus is 20% off breakfast at the local bakery, and it would be an error not to take advantage of it. All round brilliant hotel in Crete, the 1hr30 journey from the airport was very much worth it for the all round welcome and quality that you reach when you arrive. If and when we visit Southern Crete again we will definitely come to this hotel, the value for money is unreal.

The room ist perfect and lovely. The architecture is exceptionally, the stuff very kind. I was there with my daughter for one night. We will come back again. Also Chora Sfakion is a wonderful place with good restaurants. We started there to Gavdos.

We stayed for two nights to explore the area and walk one of the Gorges.The local beach is great and there are so many restaurants and bars nearby. The hotel is tastefully decorated and the staff are extremely charming and helpful. We would definitely recommend this place.

The hotel is located in the village itself and in a quiet area. Fantastic rooms in a very recent, moderna nd cosy hotel. Plus this hotel has a car park at your disposal which must be essentiel during the high season. The staff was extremely helpful, firendly and efficient. We were there mid-may which is still mid season, however the quality of the room as regards to the price was absolutely exceptionnal. I highly recomment staying at The Authentic Village Hotel.

Don't be put off by this review - you may well love this accommodation - but for us personally there were significant disappoin**ents. It is certainly a quality establishment, and the two staff who dealt with us at Reception were excellent - and this needs noting. The rooms were very well equipped, modern, had amazing lighting options, and there were some nice touches such as the complimentary drinks in the minibar. So what spoilt it for us: The sea view was interrupted by a host of roof top solar heating units, and several buildings - I certainly wouldn't refer to it as a pleasant view to look out at from the balcony. Getting there with heavy luggage was difficult, as there is a long path and several sets of steps. To be fair, we did get an e-mail saying we could contact them if we needed help getting to the establishment, but they should have explained why we might need help. By the time we realised we needed help, it was too late. For the price, the room was small. For the price, I would have expected breakfast to have been included. However, these gripes are purely personal to me, and it is clear from other reviews that most people love staying here.

What a wonderful place to stay! The staff was welcoming and friendly, and always greeted us with a smile and cheerfulness! This was the perfect place for us to base as we explored Sfakia and the surrounding area. Our room was comfortable and clean. The balcony had a view of the sea and it was a nice spot to sit and relax. We would definitely stay here again if we return to the area.

A very nice stay in a comfortable room, with many amenities and some cuddles for the customer at the arrival and at the departure too. The information given to enjoy Hora Sfakion and Loutro had been detailed and useful. The free car parking is very good and permits to don't loose time in the crowded Hora Sfakion. Special discount for the customers in a bakery close to the accomodation. For the future it would be great to have a more direct access to the accomodations as from the car parking to the reception there are some stairs but it could be easy create ramps useful also for people with mobility difficulties. Overall, a great experience.

Amazing attention to detail in the accommodation and wonderful friendly staff. Unfortunately we only stayed one night and would recommend to stay longer. It really feels “Authentic” staying within the narrow cobbled streets on the hill above the harbour.
