Cross Keys

What a brilliant couple of nights away. The Cross Keys Inn is a delight. We were met by the owner Rory and Holly who immediately made us and Grace our dog feel welcome,had a chat and helped us with our bags to our room. On our first evening we were really well looked after by Holly and on the second by Rebecca. The food was extremely tasty,well presented and value for money.We had the fish & chips,mushroom & lentil cottage pie and prawn & monkfish laksa as well as the veggie breakfast over the 2 days and evenings but the tomato and basil soup was out of this world.It wasn't just soup,it was a work of art !!!!!. The beer and wine we sampled were very drinkable. The rooms are extremely comfortable and spacious. We stayed in Glebe,one of the dog friendly rooms. Thankyou to Rory and all of his staff who made our mini break away so special. As well as the lovely atmosphere of the inn and the delicious food and drink,your hospitality makes it the perfect package. A lovely country Inn with fantastic “old fashioned service “ we were helped in with our luggage and shown to our room nothing was too much trouble. The bar area was cosy and served excellent food and drinks and the bedroom was clean and very comfortable with a generous tea tray(more available on a shelf in the corridor if needed) and ample toiletries. We loved our stay and will most certainly be back

Booked this based on a newspaper recommendation from last year, what a great find. As everyone has said the staff were all lovely and friendly. Our room had a great view of the hills and although it faced the road there is so little traffic that we slept very soundly. By chance we were there on the monthly Friday steak night, would definitely recommend having this as the steak was one of the best we’ve had in a long time & perfectly cooked. The pub was absolutely packed out for it. We also ate on the Saturday night from the usual pub menu, its short but all the food was so good (special mention for the fish & chips). Breakfast is also very good (great porridge but be warned it’s a huge bowlful). This area is not as busy as other parts of Scotland but the scenery is spectacular and we really liked the helpful book of walks in the room
