….time around. There is simply nothing to point any fingers at… Perhaps that the minibar was empty.. that I couldn’t eat more at the extremely large and high quality breakfast buffet.. and the same for the lunch buffet.. That i couldn’t concentrate at the seminar, because of the outstanding view on 25th floor. This Hotel is highly recommended.

Had dinner here in the buffet restaurant. And it was overcrowded, not hygenic and health hasard. Please avoid. 50 euro for this bad quality of food is an insult. Under cooked or burned food, spoons touched by guests in the food, glass on the floor, chefs touching the food with their bare hands.

This is the best hotel I've used in the Rotterdam area and I would certainly recommend it. Check in was quite slow, there is an option for self check in that I should have perhaps used for quicker service. All the staff in the reception and the restaurant were very polite and helpful. My room was on the 9th floor, the elevators are quick and very little waiting time - which is always good. Into the room, loads of space and everything still looks new and it's nice to have a balcony and being on the 9th floor meant no noise from the busy road.. The room is almost entirely open plan meaning the wash basin, bath and shower are all pretty much in the main room - but this doesn't detract from the feel of the room. Bathroom fixtures all work well and you get decent quality, complimentary toiletries. Outside, there is plenty of free car parking and options to charge EVs. The only downside for me is the price, it's much more expensive than other hotels in the Schiedam and Vlaardingen, but arguably reflected in the quality and service. I visit Rotterdam frequently and will definitely stay here again.

I recently stayed at Hotel Van der Valk Schiedam and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The hotel boasted a convenient location and provided a comfortable a**osphere for relaxation. The room was spacious, well-furnished, and had an ambiance conducive to a good night's rest. However, during my stay, I encountered a notable issue with the room cleanliness. There were visible stains on the blanket, which was disappointing and detracted from an otherwise enjoyable stay. This oversight in maintaining the cleanliness of the bedding was unexpected and could have been improved upon to meet the standards I anticipated from a hotel of this caliber. Despite this setback, the staff were friendly and accommodating, ensuring a smooth check-in process and addressing other inquiries promptly. The amenities provided by the hotel, including the on-site facilities and dining options, were commendable and added value to the overall experience.

Hotel Van Der Valk in Schiedam is recently opened for business and offers the amenities, routinely found at a Van Der Valk hotel; hotel rooms, a restaurant, a bar, a congress center and a coffee lounge in the lobby. As I live nearby, the chances that I will book a room here are very slim, but I like to go to Van Der Valk for lunch or for coffee. Mostly I choose the establishment in Ridderkerk (good coffee and delicious cake by the way), but since the opening of Van Der Valk in Schiedam, there is opportunity to get coffee and cake closer by home. But after two visits I must conclude that the coffee lounge in Schiedam is not fit for purpose and I will go to Ridderkerk again the next time. I will tell you why. The first visit was just after the opening time of 10.00 am. The staff was not welcoming and acted if they were new in the job and didn't enjoy their job very much. But the coffee and cake were OK, although the bill was rather stiff. The second visit was a disaster. There was not one table free, because all tables were occupied by single persons, working on their lap tops, nursing a cup of coffee. If that is the function of the coffee lounge, then the casual visitor should stay clear and go elsewhere.

…. are human. However, there is always a root cause. And as a Hotel guest, you don’t give a….. it’s all about how you handle mistakes. In this case I arrived at the same time as Lazio soccer players. A lot of police and security. They got their keycards and were in the elevator in 5 minutes. That made ME wait for 5 minutes. Five. I got to an outstanding room. Every thing I needed. Accept water. Fantastic restaurant with great a**osphere and ambience. EXCELLENT service. When I got back to the room, there was chocolate, wine and a personal apology card for the waiting time.. It’s a two night stay, and on day two I received a message saying that I have not left my room. Reception had got it wrong, so I should just pick up a new keycard, when back in the evening. Again apologies. And on top all my belongings were moved. To the rooftop suite! Outstanding breakfast. I really hope to be back!

I only stayed at the hotel for one night but the experience was a good one. Check in and out was efficient; plenty of car parking available; food in the restaurant was good and the room was clean and tidy with a confortable bed and excellent shower.

The hotel hadn't been open for long but appeared to run like clockwork. The rooms were of very high standard & the equipment within the room of very good standard. The evening meal was of good quality & plentiful & the breakfast of excellent standard. All the staff I had contact with very attentive, well mannered & helpful. The build of the hotel as been well thought out plenty of electric car charging points & good to see solar panels on the roof. There is a pool & gym although I didn't use the facilities this time.

Very dusty everywhere from fibres in bedding and linens on all the dark surfaces and coffee machine.Mirrors too high in the bathroom. Very uncomfortable soft bed. Would have preferred proper glasses and cups for the price of the hotel. Expensive and over rated. Did not feel comfortable or welcome. Convenient location for my work, but would not stay here for leisure.
