La Posada de Santa Fe, a Tribute Portfolio Resort & Spa

I didn't want to believe the reviews but now I do. We left our intended 4 night stay early and thank goodness Hector was kind enough to refund our remaining two nights and also give us back half of one night. Our king suite with fireplace was over $600 a night so it still was a lot of money for two nights. Our room had bugs coming up out of the drain repeatedly no matter how many times I flushed them down. The water from the tub faucet was brown. The bugs went from one or two to 10 coming up every hour. We told the staff and I think they sprayed but then they came back with a vengeance so we decided to bail. I would not bathe in the jacuzzi because it was gross. The room had a severely stained bench that looked like it had fluid on it for years, the lights in hall didn't work and many other places it has burned out bulbs. The living room had slanted floors and stains all over the coffee table and burns on it. The pool cushions were dirty and ripped and umbrellas busted and lounge chairs with broken legs. The pool area has sunken so the concrete is not level. The staff tried hard and were kind but you can feel their stress. I felt so badly for them. It's an impossible situation and the Marriot is going to hear from me. To not maintain and update such a historic and iconic place is disgraceful. To charge what they charge is just disgusting. Thank you Hector for letting us leave and doing the best you can.

I had reserved a king suite with a fireplace and jacuzzi for 4 nights at the end of July/beginning of August. I read the bad reviews and thought, maybe, just maybe people are being harsh so we proceeded to leave another luxury resort and go anyway. Big mistake. Our jacuzzi had brown water, bugs that even after getting rid of them, kept appearing up from the pipes in the ground. Our room (mind you it was over $600 per night!) had a bench severely stained and gross and the table in the seating area was warped from liquid stains and had a burn on it. The cement around the pool was slanted and sunken in so that all of the chairs and loungers were not nice to sit on and almost every cushion was torn, tattered and stained. The staff was doing the best that it could to manage an unGodly workload and seemed so stressed but they were kind and tried so hard. We decided to break out early and Hector was easy to accommodate us. He gave us half off one of the two nights and refunded the other two nights we would have stayed. How is this iconic, historical, once beautiful place left to fall apart? How are they charging this much? Shame on the Marriot Hotels who owns it. This staff needs help. The hotel needs new and clean furniture and a complete overhaul. It is sad to see and even sadder for what we paid even for two nights we could have stayed at Eldorado longer or checked in earlier to The Inn and Spa at Loretto. I plan on writing to Marriot as so much of this is solvable! I am sorry to even have to write this but I DO NOT want more people getting into this situation. BELIEVE the reviews!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stayed 2 nights of a 5 day visit. The absolute filthiest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The room had the dirtiest carpet with cockroaches. After commenting about it to the front desk, nothing was done to remediate the situation. No housekeeping in three days! Marriott just let this place go…

The location is convenient for walking to the plaza, Canyon Road art galleries or along the river. The property has had several makeovers and owners. It’s currently part of the Marriott Portfolio brand. The complex is laid out like a Pueblo-like village with the rooms mimicking small casitas. The pool and hot tub and outdoor dining area are focal points. There’s also a spa where you can book massages and other treatments. Despite of the reviews that mention tired and dirty rooms, my room was clean and comfortable. Each room seems to have some sort of outdoor seating. Mine was a courtyard shared by other rooms. Each room has a small fridge and a Nespresso coffee machine. I did not use the TV or restaurant. There were two weddings on one of the nights which consumed much of the outdoor space. It was a bit loud until about 11pm. Covering the walls of the public spaces is art by local artist. They are eye-catching and interesting to roam around.

Everyone super nice and went above and beyond. Complimentary service in the evening such as wine tasting etc. very thoughtful staff. Fireplaces in rooms. Staff will come and make fire for you for s’mores. Valet is quick and attentive. Great food on site.

I wanted to love this hotel and at over $400 a night I should have been able to do so. Unfortunately the hotel is sliding the wrong direction. The grounds are generally clean and well kept. I would, however, expect ash trays in the public spaces to be cleaned daily. The valet staff are excellent. The room feels old and dated. Many have a weird air conditioner unit on the floor and venting out the window, so we could not close our window. The furniture seems dated and getting worn. The gym is good. One tv did not work in the bar and one night the fire pits were out of gas. You just do not expect such at this price point and with the competition in town. Finally, the manager of the Julia’s Restaurant was not pleasant and really should not be working there. This hotel has the opportunity to be wonderful, but staking out the mid tier with mediocre is not where it should strive at $400+ rates with a resort fee. This seems to be a trend at Marriott properties and as a Titanium member I received not recognition and really anything, which also seems to be a trend.

If I could give more than five stars, I would. I have wanted to come to this property for many years. We finally made it, and I was not disappointed. The property is absolutely beautiful. The public spaces are welcoming and fun. We stayed in a cozy artist room with a patio by the pool. The pool was heated perfectly, and the hot tub was a dream. They also have a poolside bar that is staffed all day long. Towels and a bathrobe are provided. Staff was very courteous and helpful. They will even build a fire in the fireplace in your room. This was a perfectly relaxing end to our stay.

Had a king casita which came with a small living room as well as a sitting area with a fireplace. The layout made you feel like you were in a home, not a hotel. Room had Nespresso available too. Not a huge bathroom but big enough for two people. Ate at Julia’s for dinner and had a great meal. Breakfast was plentiful as well. Would absolutely recommend and would stay here again.

The hotel is charming, architectural design is beautifully all that is Santa Fe. The location perfect for being away from the hustle but close enough to walk everywhere . however food is not good, some staff need an attitude adjustment and dogs should not be allowed.
