One word…OUTSTANDING!!! While planning our trip, we opted to stay in a Tree Top Villa. No AC, but we knew that prior to visiting, unlike others would have you believe. There were plenty of fans in the room. For February, it was hotter than we expected, but rarely did we feel uncomfortable. The room itself was amazing and the view of the river was a welcome sight every time we stepped outside. Dining… My wife is gluten intolerant. The staff made sure she was taken care of at every meal. While we are always uncertain, the waiters/waitresses would ask questions and go to others if they were unsure of the situation we presented them with. Overall, the quality of the food was great and my wife ran into no issues with gluten. Offsite tours…While we were at Chaa Creek, we opted to go to Tikal, ATM, and Barton Creek. All three were great trips. Barton creek was maybe our least favorite, but it’s a canoe trip and we had some pretty bad storms prior. The water level was high, but this is out of everyone’s control. We would definitely do the trip again. The ATM trip was absolutely amazing. If you’re not claustrophobic, not afraid of the dark, not afraid of getting wet, not afraid of your muscles being sore the next day, you have to do this trip. Our guide, Alexi, was extremely knowledgeable about ATM and its history. We were very comfortable during the entirety of the tour. The road getting there is pretty rough, but nothing my wife couldn’t handle with a few Dramamine. Lastly, Tikal, our main reason for choosing Chaa Creek. Yumi, our guide, was AMAZING!!!!! One of the best guides we’ve ever had. The history lesson we received while spending time with her was more than we could’ve asked for. Although she runs this tour on a regular basis, you could see the passion and excitement for everything we saw or did during the tour. Grounds tours…We did the night walk twice. It was a really cool experience. We were lucky enough to find tarantulas, scorpions, red-eyed tree frogs, and snakes. None within biting distance, if this concerns you. The guides made sure you were staying at a safe distance and always kept an eye out. We would’ve done this every night if we had the energy. There are many trails to walk, a butterfly exhibit and a museum worth checking out on the property as well. If we weren’t there to see Tikal and ATM, we would’ve been happy with the on-site tours they offered. Overall, our experience at Chaa Creek was incredible. We would definitely visit again without hesitation. I want to thank the staff and guides for such wonderful hospitality during our stay. They definitely made the trip memorable.
