Hotel de France

We've been staying here since 1990, which should say it all. Run by the same family, with many of the same brilliant staff and superb welcome. They allow dogs, they know our favourite room, it's a genuinely happy place to stay - for those in the know. Popular with all nationalities but maybe particularly the English. The hotel may no longer have its restaurant (although perhaps this will change) but it does provide a great breakfast. Really, we can't fault it and hope to keep coming back every year. Thank you Famille Brix and all your staff.

We had a room in the annex, which was a bonus as there was easy access to the main streets and their was an enclosed area to put our bikes. There was no restaurant available for dinner, but there is plenty of choice nearby. Breakfast is superb if a little pricey.

The staff were welcoming and helpful at all times and our room was charming and spacious.

Fantastic place to relax and visit the surrounding area. Wunderfull retraite to get some rest and peace. Friendly staff (woman are in charge I think), good breakfast. Enough to do along the coastal area and other villages like barfleur. Big rooms and big beds.

The hotel was absolutely stacked with character, and the lady who greeted us on arrival was an ambassador for customer service. The breakfast buffet was extremely fresh and French. We will definitely be visiting again. Thankyou.

Booked a two-night stay at Logis Hôtel de France et des Fuchsias as suggested by Stephen Ambrose Historical Tours in conjunction with SAHT's "Footsteps of Patton" tour. The hotel is located near the Guernsey/Jersey area in northwest France, west of Paris and close to the Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin - Maison du Parc Natural Regional Park. The hotel was clean, its staff personnel were friendly, and its breakfast presentation was excellent. Our group of 17 stayed two nights here, the second and third days of a 12-day tour that took us from Omaha and Utah Beaches in Normandy to Luxembourg, with a total of eight hotel stays en route. Logis Hôtel de France et des Fuchsias was a wonderful way to launch our tour . . . our hotelier was engaging and helpful, and the hotel itself was a beautiful example of the healing power of stonework and thick walls. The courtyard is very pretty, with sights and smells that I wished I could bottle up and take with me. Note the building has been around for more than two hundred years, so the stairs are narrow - navigating large luggage can be a challenge. Our host, however, promptly stepped up to carry our bags and help us get settled. The bathroom was perfectly fine, with plenty of hot water and towels, and the bed was comfortable, allowing for a restful night both nights we were there. The breakfast buffet was characteristically French, with excellent charcuterie, fresh baguettes, and an ample assor**ent of pastries and dairy products, along with freshly squeezed fruit juices. There was plenty of space for breakfast diners, and more than enough options nearby for those looking to have lunch or dinner nearby. A truly lovely hotel in a wonderful part of France.

Compared to the previous nights stay in a Michelin * hotel, this was a refreshing experience. Bigger bed, better room, nicer staff. We've been before & were worried that after their chef of 10 years standing had left, the level of excellence would have changed. Not at all. Exquisite meal, incredible service & food. The staff were absolutely delightful, combining professionalism with warmth. I'd chose this place over its rivals any day.

The Hotel is excellent, stayed in a single room and its the largest single bed I've ever seen and was exceptionally comfortable. I forgot to notify reception in advance that I was travelling by bicycle but they were really accommodating and have bike storage facilities. The gardens are beautiful, breakfast was lovely and I kind of wish I'd been there for more than 1 night.

Warm welcome, very pleasant despite my disappoin**ent with the room (we selected “prestige “ with garden view but our room was beside a path so when we opened our windows there was no privacy. ) and they were fully booked. So we felt the room was poor value
