Crystal Suites 1

Unfortunately, this hotel is described very wrongly on *********** and, with our trust in *********** built over a period of years, we fell for it. This is meant to be a superior 5 star hotel, supposedly “suites” as per the name! The top heading on *********** states “Get the celebrity treatment with world class service”. What could be more wrong?? The description on *********** also says that ”this 5 star hotel also has ski-to-door access”. Since we were going to Rovaniemi for the skiing, we were immediately attracted to this! Far be it from the truth and the only ski access is if you carry your skis on your back to the middle of the town! :( It goes on to say that there is also a Tour Desk! There isn’t even a reception, let alone a tour desk! They also offer a continental b’fast according to the description. In fact, breakfast is a little collection of food items left in a paper bag in the fridge overnight. The bathrooms in the rooms of these 5 star, celebrity status suites are tiny and what, in a marine environment, are called “wet heads”. This means that the toilets and bathroom floor get completely wet because there is no divider, not even a curtain, to separate the shower from the rest of the room. We had two subsequent bookings for this hotel, the first from the 5th to the 7th, and the second from the 7th to the 9th, February 2023. We wanted to stay at this hotel because we were travelling with another couple of friends that had already booked. Contrary to the hotel description, which was wrong on various accounts, this is not a hotel but a small unmanned hostel with a total of 6 rooms. We arrived on Sunday evening after a long transfer from Ivalo, We found our room flooded due to a problem with the air conditioner. We called the emergency number and the owner (??) told us that she could not help us before the following day as they had no cleaning staff or maintenance available. She told us to find another hotel and we will be refunded for the booking, as well as for our second booking. We were not refunded! After weeks of chasers, we were refunded for this first booking but not for our second one even though this was all documented on the *********** system. The hotel owners cannot be trusted, and we feel very let down by ***********, not only for the money but also for the hassles and waste of time in making us chase for the refund and each time they postponed this. The final insult was that *********** said we should ask the hotel directly for the money because they could not help. we had already chased the hotel but they never replied. Apart from the hassles on arrival and afterwards, we are out of pocket by EUR330. I have worked in tourism for many years and yes, I know very well that sometimes things go wrong in hotels just like with everything else in life! This is not the issue here. The problems here are: 1) a very wrong and misleading hotel description on *********** completely misrepresenting the hotel. Perhaps

After we were told the the room will be available at 1500hrs, they have gladly cancelled our booking and no refund was given for the cost (difference) of booking last minute to our new accomodation. Dont waste your money with this cheap suite! Better spend a little more than here. No staff to accomdate! No receptionist! No instruction given or sent! Only left a numeber on the window and expect you to use very expensive phone charges to contact them! It is not on the city centre! Its a bit of a walk! Not where you would like to be- close to cbd

Booked this hotel in January. It was cancelled at 5p.m. on day of arrival february 12th. I was already in the airplane. Was in town with lugagge at 6.30p.m. , minus 2 degrees and had to look for alternative accomodation. They said overbooking, but I think they got a better price than the rate I paid in January. Very greedy hotel management If you book there double check .

The location of the hotel is good and is between the train station and the city center, both of which are within walking distance. Also, bus line 8, which goes to Christmas Village, is nearby, as well as the art museum. Unfortunately, no one was present when I arrived, and only to one of two numbers which have been stuck to the door from the inside someone answered, who then did not really speak English and then after a minute just hung up. Therefore, I then stood for quite a while in the cold, until then but someone came from the inside, showed me a piece of paper and asked if I was. With this he then went back outside to get the room key from the key box. Why am I not simply told the code for the key box beforehand, then this could have been saved? Since the hotel explicitly asked me beforehand when I was arriving, I can't quite understand this. The room was unfortunately on the first floor and had a floor-to-ceiling window front (even if the lower 40% are semi-transparent), which is why it was a bit like sleeping in a shop window. This also meant that there was a lot of noise from the street. The room had a very strange cut, like a piece of cake. The pillars in the room made it necessary to walk from the foot end to the bed, for example. On a positive note, however, it was really very clean and everything was in very good condition. The bathroom was very small and when showering, virtually the entire room gets wet. A towel rack would have been nice (there were only hooks next to the sink). The TV hung very high, which is why it is better to watch as a pedestrian in front of the window than from inside the sofa. I only found the breakfast by accident in a refrigerator in the closet, but a little more explanation or a sign would have been good. At the coffee machine, for example, there was such a sign. In the breakfast room there was something like cornflakes, but I did not know where to get milk. But since there was no staff present in the morning either, I could not ask. So if I hadn't searched everything when I arrived, breakfast would have passed me by. All in all, not a positive experience, even though it looked really modern and pretty at first glance.
