What a mixed bag this was. It will be easier to point out what was good and what was not so good. The plusses: 1. Our 2nd floor room was spacious. And the bathroom was enormous by most hotel standards. 2. They offered daily housekeeping which was appreciated. 3. The room was clean. 4. The price was reasonable for the location. 5. The location is fantastic if you want access to the metro and bus system. Not so good: 1. We booked the daily breakfast option. On first glance, it looked like it would be great. But, the eggs were hard and cold. The pastries were piled together in one tray and a little stale. Things like juice were not regularly replenished. 2. I realize this is more of a European custom, but the A/C was not turned on in the hotel even though it was hot. When we opened the window at night to let in cool air it was noisy and the mosquitos attacked. Offering a fan would have been nice. 3. Interestingly, if you did not speak Italian (I try but it's not pretty) you were not offered an espresso or cappuccino when you came to breakfast. After seeing other guests getting espresso, the second morning I asked the woman in charge of the dining room for a cappuccino. She reluctantly made one for me. We stayed here 6 nights and she was here for 4 mornings. We got the cold shoulder every time from her. On our last morning, a young woman I had never seen before, greeted us and immediately asked if we wanted espresso! 3. They lock the front door occasionally. We came back one afternoon about 4:00 pm and there was a "closed" sign on the door. It was locked. We sat on the steps for about 5 minutes until the front desk person came back and unlocked it. Bathroom break? Another evening we were going to dinner at about 6:30 pm. The door was locked and we couldn't get out of the hotel. After a few minutes, the same desk person came back and unlocked it so we could leave. I was starting to look for a window to jump out in case of fire. I probably would not stay at this hotel again.
