An overnight stay. A nice large, clean and comfy room with a calming decor. Lovely selection of teas, coffee and biscuits in the room. An excellent variety on the breakfast menu, at a reasonable price and very tasty. Welcoming and friendly staff. We will definitely be staying here again.

I visited the Newbury area to meet up with an old friend. We are both unfamiliar with the area. However, we decided to visit the Berkshire Arms, Chef & Brewer Hotel. We were greeted by a very Nice gentleman who accommodated us a table in the restaurant area. We were then welcomed by our waitress, Monica, who Took our drink order and recommended some dishes from the menu. On her recommendation, we both had a lovely meal. Berkshire Arms was a very welcoming experience, and we will definitely be returning back in the very near future ….

Lovely roast dinner. Portions were really good making it great value for money. Love the relaxing atmosphere of this place. We were shown to our table by Wayne who was really friendly and made us feel so welcome. Thanks to our server James as well. Made a great Easter Sunday

We have been regularly visiting and every time the staff make our experience even better! Being recognised even though we haven’t been in for a minute was the cherry on top! The room was clean and good great! Service as usually very good and the staff very welcomingThank you all we will be back soon!

My wife and I stayed at the Berkshire Arms while visiting relatives in Thatcham. The hotel is situated in a quite area and is conveniently located for the Thatcham and Newbury areas. Due to the nature of the visit we didn’t spend a lot of time in the hotel, we had breakfast which was very good but no other meals although the menu looked to accommodate most tastes, The room was standard hotel type with the usual facilities. Unfortunately room 19 which we were allocated is adjacent to the ventilation plant as is room 20 on the other side. The ventilation plant starts up at around 6am weekdays and 7am weekends. The vibration and noise from the plant room is intrusive. The room was heated by an electric wall heater which wasn’t switched on. Suggest this could be switched on prior to occupancy or programmed using the integral programmer. Suggest also that the toilet seat which was loose is maintained. Service was good and overall we would stay there again but perhaps in a different room

Arrived at the hotel and checked in. We wanted to pay by cash for our room but told it is a cashless hotel/pub. We did pay by card but as cash is still legal tender we were quite within our rights to use cash. Our room was clean and nicely decorated and the bed was comfy. Unfortunately, there was a tear in the duvet cover. The bathroom was clean but the toilet seat was loose and also the plug didn't come out of the sink. Nice shower. We had breakfast the next morning. There was lots of choice and lovely full English with quality ingredients. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

Visiting family in Newbury travelling from Newcastle. Never stayed before and the travel down was snowing up north but very cold down south. We arrived 8 pm ish and we had a pleasant welcome at reception. The room we were given was a ground floor room. Very impressed from the min we walked into the hallway very warm and stylish, the room was the same very warm and cosy not like some hotel rooms were you have to put the radiator on. The bar was warm and welcoming. Overall very impressed thank you we will stay again.

Very much enjoyed our early evening meal and cocktails . The staff were attentive and pleasant and made a fuss of the dog. I don’t know if there has been a recent refurbishment but the interior looked new and welcoming. We will definitely return when we are next in the area. Thank you.

Stayed in the hotel here like I have done many times. At 2am there was a knock on my door from a male voice shouting housekeeping and then my door opened. I shot out of bed to see someone walking into my room. I shouted get out at as they quickly turned round and ran away. I went to reception only for them to tell me that none of this was at all possible and I must have been dreaming. Due to their poor attitude and lack of care I have had to get the police involved. This is not a safe hotel to stay. Avoid at all costs
