Quinta da Barroca Douro Valley

This hotel is a treasure. The property is traditional and beautiful with scenery that is stunning. The staff are very accommodating. Our room was tidy, roomy with great views from the large window or terrace. Breakfast was very good in a lovely room. There is a indoor pool and outdoor pool both are very nice. You can get dinner at local small nice community restaurant's which serve great food, hotel will assist you with a list and directions. You need a car for this hotel and google maps to get around, but worth it. We did a couple of wine/port tours, recommend Pacheca Winery. We visited Lamego shops and sites, which are close by. Also walked the stairs to the Hill top church in Lamego. Definitely worth staying at this lovely hotel.

Lets start with what is good. Location is the only aspect that is keeping this place running. You are situated on a beautiful wine farm...thats it. What you really get is a semi decent room with a shower that is literally impossible to shower in as the water temperature fluctuates from ice cold to scolding hot. There is no resturant amenaties you can not get lunch nor dinner. The only food you get is truly the worst breakfast you could ever have. The cold meats tasted off, the eggs where grey and dry, no options. It was the worst thing to wakeup to in a beautiful setting. There is no wine tasting, no tours. There is no management, no upkeep, no maintenance. It is a huge wasted potential, so sad!

Amazing place to have some rest, to walk among vine trees, to practice sports and to forget daily problems. People are kind and the place is wonderful. Two swimming pools, a tennis court and so much walking to do in order to discover the vine's mysteries.

Very Good location, beautiful place and surrounding. The breakfast was very simply and bad quality of the food. The outdoor swimming pool was dirty... The maintenance of the Quinta is quite bad too... The room was great and big, but the shower oscillates between very cold and very hot every second. The potencial of the Quinta and the Hotel is huge, but looks like there's no manager taking care.

This was a beautiful location for a relaxing and romantic getaway. The restaurant does not serve lunch and dinner had to be pre-ordered with reservations in advance so plan accordingly. Wine menu was extremely limited and service was OK but not exceptional. Beyond the restaurant thought, the grounds and locations were exceptional and made a grat base location to come back to after a day of touring the Duoro. 20€ per way via taxi to Regua if you do not have a car. We made arrangements with a local company (Taxi Tavares - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) who organized excursions and tours for us. The Duoro is worth a destination visit!

What an absolute disgrace to call yourself a Wedding venue. I was attending the big day for my niece & instead of talking just about how beautiful it was to see her wed her love we also had to console her as the service she was promised was not delivered. From the start everything was running late, the ceremony started over an hour after the guests were moved to the blazing sun with insufficient seating & shade. We were then treated to another 3 hrs in the extreme heat as they were not ready to serve dinner despite the late running of the ceremony! Dinner maybe is not the best way of describing the next 3/4 hrs. Food was slow in arriving & was cold, options that were on the menu were not available. We asked for water for the table & eventually we got 1 warm jug between 16 of us. White wine was served warm & non alcoholic drinks were hard to come by. As a result of all these delays our group which included her Avo & Tias had to leave at midnight just as dinner was finishing (!) missing the cutting of the cake, the first dance & the fireworks! The planner had absolutely no idea what she was doing & she was rude to both guests & staff. Overall review, Disgraceful !
