Il Ciocco Hotels

This complex of hotels, log cabins, restaurant and cycle hire is not part of the Renaissance Tuscany il Ciocco Resort & Spa. Although the entrance to the site from the main road is the same. We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the hotel. The view over to Barga and beyond is lovely. Our room was in the College Hotel, the building opposite Monteceneri Hotel where the reception is located. The room was a good size with a small balcony. Supplied with bottled water, coffee machine (a few pods), a desk and hanging area for clothes. The bed was large and very comfortable (we are very fussy). The bathroom had a shower and toiletries. We walked up the step road every morning for breakfast, very pleasant to listen to the birds and breath in the fresh mountain air. Breakfast was plentiful; fruit juices, coffee, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pastries, cakes, bread/toast, jams, honey, cheeses, hams, fresh fruit and yoghurt. We ate dinner at the Locanda Alla Posta restaurant twice during our week and enjoyed both meals. Overall we enjoyed our week at Il Ciocco Hotels.

Positives: 1. A comfortable bed. 2. Balcony with seating and small table were good for the beautiful views though the balcony was above the road. 3. Room was fine, bathrobes, spacious bathroom. 4. The night we had dinner in the restaurant was delicious with pleasant staff. 5. Breakfast was ok, a nice dining space. Had all the basics you’d expect. The pastries, granola and sausages were very good. 6. Very clean everywhere. Negatives: 1. The staff were fine but one was incredibly unhelpful when I simply asked to borrow an umbrella because it was pouring down with rain but was told no. I would have to buy one for €15 despite there being at least 4 in the umbrella holder by the reception desk. 2. In room coffee facilities were ok but were outside the room shared with other guests (as well as a small fridge) and no milk option or services within the hotel. 3. European plug adapters didn’t work so we had to charge phones via the tv with the USB cable. 4. Tight walk in shower. 5. TV didn’t work. 6. On one morning there was a car rally race going around the hotel so very noisy. 7. Very remote so near impossible to walk to anywhere because to get to/from the hotel to a public road (not even a town), it’s a 4km hike up/down a steep road. Even for breakfast the restaurant was a 500m hike up from the hotel. Anyone with mobility challenges should avoid this hotel. 8. Must have a car or be prepared to pay for taxis if you want to do anything off site. Even their shuttle to Barga was €20 per person one way.

Posto stupendo, praticamente un’intera dorsale di montagna adibita a hotel ,chalet ,ristoranti e strutture sportive, la nostra camera ( Deluxe) molto spaziosa e pulita, insonorizzazione buona, la colazione viene servita in una locanda a 500mt , abbondante e varia. Unica pecca , il personale.. freddo e molto distaccato.. soprattutto al check in ,crediamo che a dare valore ad una location sia in parte la struttura e in parte il personale che ci lavora… in egual misura … per la nostra esperienza qui non abbiamo trovato la seconda parte… Per il prezzo richiesto non credo che torneremo

Lo chalet in cui abbiamo soggiornato era molto carino, con una bella vista sui bosco, molto pulito e confortevole. Ci è piaciuta anche la colazione e la possibilità di fare passeggiate ed attività sportive dentro al parco. Abbiamo gradito meno la dispersività della struttura, è davvero molto grande, ci vogliono otto minuti in macchina ad arrivare dall’ingresso agli chalet, per noi un po’ scomodo. Però lo consiglio per un soggiorno nella natura.

In realtà il Ciocco è una mega tenuta su una collina su cui si accede tramite una portineria che dà sulla strada principale. Al suo interno ci sono hotel, chalet, camere, case vacanza, un percorso per bici, un villaggio sportivo, ristorante e anche un eliporto. Posto tranquillo e molto ordinato.

È una vecchia struttura sistemata abbastanza bene,all ingresso si sale su uno steccato fatiscente con le viti che sporgono a rischio inciampo .La camera pecca di insonorizzazione in special modo la porta d ingresso che vibra ad ogni piccolo flusso d'aria del corridoio.. Il portellone del terrazzo non si chiude .. La cabina doccia non chiude bene e una porta nello scorrere esce dalle guide col rischio che ti venga addosso. Il miscelatore del lavabo bagno perde acqua anche da chiuso con conseguente sgocciolio nel pavimento del bagno..il coperchio wc non è fissato... In camera c'è un bell impianto di aria condizionata ,la vista sulle montagne è veramente bella . C'è anche il terrazzo con tavolino e due sedie... La nota davvero dolente sono le pulizie della camera . Le donne delle pulizie sono sempre presenti ma non si capisce cosa facciano. La camera non e' stata mai pulita , cioè mai passato non l aspirapolvere ma neppure un mop e figuriamoci se hanno lavato in terra . In terrazzo siamo arrivati e c'erano degli aghi di pino siamo andati via e nessuno li ha tolti. Il bagno con la perdita del lavello ha creato una pozzetta e c'è rimasto del laniccio...ci ho messo sopra la carta igienica proprio x attirare la loro attenzione... niente hanno tolto la carta ma il laniccio è sempre lì.. Quindi non hanno mai spazzato il bagno e mai dato lo straccio e sicuramente mai igienizzato wc bidet e tt il resto, addirittura ci hanno lasciato anche senza carta igienica. Potrei scrivere altro ma penso che basti così... praticamente hanno rifatto il letto e cambiato gli asciugamani... tutto questo per i 5 giorni che siamo stati lì...che poi non è neppure tanto economico. La ristorazione è efficiente davvero tanto sia per le colazioni che per pranzo e cena . Ragazzi davvero in gamba e molto educati. Il cibo è molto allettante e hanno una bella varietà di vini... Il posto è bello ne varrebbe la pena ma il fatto che le pulizie sono scadenti non pensiamo di tornare.
