Picton House B&B and Motel

I am incredibly disgusted with Coral the proprietor of this establishment. I have been charged twice for the stay of one night. $NZ195 x 2 I have contacted Coral three times by email with evidence of the double charge. Her response has been indifferent, rude and unprofessional. Point blank she has refused to refund the $195 just saying we do not give refunds. Coral refuses to acknowledge her error. You may not believe this review, up to you. Please just be very careful with her.

Lovely stay. Felt like going home. We'd gladly come back here any time Good: Pleasant staff Clean room Nice breakfast Comfortable bed Rhubarb Good location Bads: Check out at 10. We'd like to have stayed longer Tiny, but adequate bathroom. Only one plug. We had meds we needed to keep refrigerated and had to use the "Only for kettle" plug No sound proofing. But stay was quiet anyway. Sorry neighbors... She couldn't find our reservation initially, which was a bit of a scare.

What an awesome old house. Our room was comfortable and we were well looked after. Walking distance to town for bars and restaurants and to the ferry. We walked over to the marina and spotted heaps of stingrays from the bridge. Great spot to stay.

Nice looking place and the room was quite comfortable, as indeed it should be at NZD180, (£94 sterling). Breakfast is included in the price. Breakfast finishes at 0900, (why so early?), but I forgot to set my alarm and arrived downstairs at 0915. My fault entirely for making a basic mistake when tired after a couple of days travelling. I was told, "You've missed breakfast, the kitchen is closed and nothing is available." I said I would make myself a cup of coffee in my room but was told, "Don't make it in the room, we'll make it for you here". I didn't expect the kitchen to be opened for me but a piece of toast or a bowl of cereal would have been very much appreciated, especially as it had already been paid for. However, their hospitality extended only as far as a cup of lukewarm coffee. I returned to my room, packed my bag and walked out into the rain thirty minutes later to look for breakfast elsewhere. It's all about the money, regardless of how warm the welcome is. I would expect that trea**ent at a downmarket hotel chain but not a place that purports to be 'homely'. Very disappointed. What a miserable end to my stay in Picton.

Very friendly and welcoming. Continental breakfast hits the spot and is included. Overall it was a great overnight stop for us as 2 adults, 3 kids before staring the Queen Charlotte track. The kids had a room up stairs with shared bathroom/toilet - all was very clean. Adults had an ensuite downstairs. The ensuite is very small but again can’t fault it with only one night stay
