Amendoeira Golf Resort

Had a great time. Apartment was very big and modern and clean. Glad hired a car as it’s essential with no shops or restaurants (other than golf clubhouse) within miles. Had a mezzanine but these are all level 1 so next time I will go for a ground floor double option as I prefer ground floor. Site is very big and quite spread out and really quiet. Pools really good. We would come again.

A limpeza deixa muito a desejar. O check in estava marcado para as 16h, no entanto só tinham o apartamento disponível às 19h. Situação que vi repetir-se com outros hóspedes. A limpeza da piscina é fraca, as cadeiras da piscina têm muito mau aspecto, precisam de reforma. O restaurante do hotel é péssimo, a comida é cara e a qualidade é fraca. A limpeza da casa de banho das piscinas é muito fraca.

God I wish I had read the reviews for the Faldo Golf Course. They are damming and reflect the experience my wife and I had today. Without doubt I can only endorse every bad review. Start with arrival the surly guy checking you in for your cart. Begrudgingly heads you a pencil and a card. Cart dirty and sticky. “ So where is the driving range”? It’s up there. Get there and find need a token. No staff and the tee blocks so bad impossible to hit off. Thanks. First hole discover tee block appalling. The rough long and unkempt, only just the start. So onwards, only positive is greens very good. Bunkers no sand in many, fairways average and variable. Paths rough, ****s growing in the middle reflect poor/lazy green staff attention. Tee blocks worst I have ever seen. Photos to follow. After two hours no sign of food and beverage cart. Hungry and thirsty phone office. Sorry they stop at 5pm. Doh we have been on the course since 2.15 pm and not seen a soul. “ I will ask sir if they can meet you, what hole are you on”? One hour later another call sorry they have gone for the day”. I could go on. Absolutely the worst golfing experience I have had globally. Reading previous reviews there appears no accountability and no changes. Avoid the Faldo Course at all costs it is terrible. Hey Nick, either remove you name endorsement or at worst stop taking your commissions.

This was the 2nd time I have played and stayed at Amendoeira resort and both times I’ve been utterly impressed. This time round was even better than first due the condition of the course. I read a few reviews before visiting that the course, greens and tee boxes weren’t in great condition which made me concerned but the tees we played off (white) were near immaculate. I did notice the yellow tee boxes especially on the Faldo course were quite worn but it wasn’t a problem for us who were playing off the white tees. The course itself was in great condition, fairways were perfect and greens were spotless. The greens were unbelievably quick at times which was a struggle for us higher handicappers but suited the lower handicapper who may be used to that pace. The apartments were spotless as they were first time round. A great space to chill after our round. They are secluded away from any town or shops which is why you pay a cheaper rate but we got Ubers into albufeira at night for around €20-€25. Between 4 of us it wasn’t a problem. I will definitely be going back as both times have been the cheapest and most inclusive package on the market by a stretch.

Returning visit to this resort after it blew us away in 2017. The experience unfortunately was absolute chalk and cheese. We had afternoon tee offs for our 3 rounds over 3 days which we were fine with. However as it’s sold as unlimited golf our tee slot was littered with 2nd round groups fighting for buggy’s when we were still to go out on our first round. The buggy’s were never available ready for our tee time and on all three occasion meant we were laying starting. On all 3 occasions we were also asked to pay for our buggy as they assumed this was our 2nd round of the day which was extremely infuriating and damped the mood before our rounds. And finally as we were afternoon tee offs our buggy’s struggled to make it round the course and were extremely slow (Yes you now have to pay for the buggy for any additional rounds on the same day, something not made clear when booking the unlimited golf package) The courses were ok but not a scratch on the conditions in 2017. The bunkers were short of sand regularly exposing the fabric matting underneath. As its unlimited golf and really good value for money it does attract the casual golfer which meant none of the bunkers were raked. The restaurant was nice however the lighting on the outside seating area wasn’t working meaning we were eating in darkness by the time our meals arrived and resulting to eating inside. Again not a huge issue but something that did dampen the experience of outside dining. The rooms were excellent, we were sold 2x 2 person apartment but the each room had 2 single beds meaning 4 people could easily shared 1 apartment and reduced the cost. Breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately we will not be returning and will sought out a new hidden gem that priority quality and experience over quantity albeit at a steeper price. Anyone already booked and checking reviews rest assured you will have a fantastic weekend, these are just a few gripes Ineeded to get off my chest!

We had a three night stay and had a fantastic time. Accommodation is a very good standard. Clean and comfortable. Bar and restaurant was good and reasonably priced. Service in the upstairs restaurant and bar is better than the Clubhouse terrace downstairs. However food was really good quality and good value. Both courses were in a good condition and loads of fun. Some wear and tear but understandable given numbers playing. Be prepared to wait on tee boxes as loads of groups on course. Again what you'd expect from a busy resort course. We all preferred the O'connor course. Definitely easier and more fun. Faldo course was very challenging. Long, hilly, loads of bunkers and fast greens. Customer service was superb throughout. Receptionists, shuttle bus drivers, fellas sorting out the buggies. All polite and courteous and eager to help. Would definitely recommend and hope to go back.

After being sold this course as one of Portugals top courses and resorts I was very much looking forward to it , when we arrived we was told there was a delay as no buggies so had to wait an hour to get out , when we got on the course it was in poor condition, tired and very well used , for the green fee price it was actually shocking , we stayed in the Algarve and played 7 rounds and this course was by far the worst , I will not return and certainly would not recommend it

We have played the Faldo several times over recent years and have always enjoyed the experience. However our latest visit was somewhat disappointing, there was a delay on buggies resulting in a 45 minute back log on your tee time so we decided to walk the front 9 or we wouldn’t have got our round in before it got dark. The course was not at its best , very scruffy and dry, the tees were bare and the greens were poor. The staff were very attentive as always but the organisation for buggies was a bit of a shambles. We will give this a miss next year and look to play elsewhere. We play the O’Connor course next and hope we have a better experience.

Resort going downhill. Used to be a top place to visit. Golf courses ok but little by way of green keepers/workers repairing or maintaining. Clubhouse service terrible, slow and drinks well overpriced. Food is ok. Accommodation pretty good and clean. Overall a real shame as used to be a really nice resort, now as a guest you feel a bit of an inconvenience to them.
