The Mellon Country Inn

My husband and I have been there for lunch a number of times and always pleased with the food and service. On our recent trip we had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated. The restaurant was not exceptionally busy at the time but the service was quite slow. When we had finished our meal we had to wait for quite some time and did want to order more drinks but gave up in the end, paid the bill and left. The food was excellent but salad leaves on our plates were withered and had seen better days. I never leave reviews generally but felt compelled to do this one as, if the service was improved it would be back to the great place it was to eat.

We had booked 3 rooms well in advance for an event we were planning to attend. At short notice, they telephoned me to advise that they had cancelled our booking. No reason for the cancellation was given and they appeared quite unconcerned that they had let us down and didn’t seem to care that it was now too late for us to arrange alternative accommodation. We have used this hotel for the event that we were planning to attend for a number of years (mainly due to its location) and found it to be adequate, although they didn’t always give us the rooms specified and had to change them on arrival. If you want adequate accommodation that might or might not be available after you have booked, then this might be the place for you. However if you expect your rooms to be available I would suggest looking elsewhere. P.S. Tripadvisor won’t let me post this review unless I state when we went. So just ignore the dates.

This was unreal people never had a steak like it just melt in your mouth !! Fantastic food will definently be back here to eat again . My friend had the beetroot risotto which she really enjoyed as well top marks to you in the melon country inn see you s soon

It used to be great but last time was disappointing. Used to do a cooked breakfast last was buffet self service. Evening meal was lovely and the desserts are very tasty. Big let down plus have to pay a fiver to get the remote for the TV! Not overly expensive and it's not far from the ulster American folk park.

I wanted to share my recent experience at your hotel, which unfortunately fell far below the positive experiences we've had in the past. During our stay, the food was served cold, the a**osphere was disrupted by rowdy travelers, and the foyer seemed occupied by intoxicated homeless individuals, one in particular parading about in her dressing gown with little underneath. We shared breakfast with people in the nightwear and slippers. It was disheartening, especially since we had a wonderful stay last year, prompting me to bring my elderly parents along this time. Despite paying £280 for our stay, the contrast from our previous positive experience was stark. Regular patrons we spoke to even left before midnight due to the unfavorable environment. This was not the memorable and enjoyable experience we were expecting. I hope you take this feedback seriously, as we have cherished memories from our previous visit and would like to see the quality of service and ambiance restored to its former standard.

An absolute disgrace letting 30 of us book in for Xmas night away and not even telling us the entertainment that we where all looking forward to was cancelled , it was only by accident a colleague of ours overheard the receptionist telling someone that it was 🤬 none of us will ever be back so if anyone is planning staying I’d phone first and find out if your entertainment is cancelled only for a friend of ours got his guitar out and started singing definitely saved the night !

I stayed in Mellon Country Inn while attending an event in the ballroom. When booking the room I said that I was attending the event and wanted to avail of the special room rate as I was attending the function there that night however while checking in I noticed that I was about to be charged a higher rate than I had been quoted however the price was lowered to what I'd been quoted when I mentioned this. The room was nice and clean with some nice touches. When attending the function the service was good and the bar was reasonably priced however I was surprised to be charged £1 for a glass of miwadi.

A friendly welcome with outstanding food, very generous portions, and reasonably priced. You've even got a beautiful view while you're eating. I couldn't fault a thing and would definitely recommend a visit to the Mellon Country Inn restaurant. Make sure you come hungry.

My sisters and I checked into the Mellon hotel for one night. The location is fabulous , the chef produced fantastic meals and the dining room staff were very friendly helpful and efficient. We found the reception staff quite uninterested and had issues with pricing and checking in. They seemed very inexperienced. We had booked a triple room. There were a few issues with the room that a bit of upgrading would solve easily but the main issue was the beds, we had a small double bed and a single bed for three ample older ladies. The double bed had springs protruding and were very comfortable and the bed was too small for two adults, the single bed was as hard as a rock. We attended the on-site entertainment which was very good. It ended at10.30 pm and when we went to the bar found staff mopping floors and we felt uncomfortable and returned to our room. We couldn’t watch TV as on arrival we noticed we would have to pay a deposit for the remote control and as we thought we would be having a late night we declined and on returning to our room there were no reception staff to ask for a remote. We settled down for the night but couldn’t sleep due to the uncomfortable beds. We got up to quite a good breakfast but when we mentioned the beds were met with “ no one else has complained “ great potential as a first class hotel but need to upgrade the rooms and train reception staff
