Aspen Lodge

Stayed at the Aspen Lodge for the weekend in May , the views are spectacular and the room was gorgeous and spotlessly clean. Carol and Bobby are the nicest hosts we have ever met , they are so friendly and you feel as if you’ve known them forever. The breakfast was delicious. I would 100% recommend anyone thinking about going to Oban to stay in this stunning lodge. The town is 5/10 minutes away in a taxi.

Aspen Lodge B&B is an excellent and exceptional place ! Very spacious rooms with large en-suite bathrooms . Comfortable outside sitting areas with a relaxing and beautiful view! Cookies , chocolates, tea, coffee, etc are available in your room . The towels are thick and soft ! Carol provides a great and comfortable place that is next to being home ! And her breakfast is delicious! We loved our stay here and the location is great !

Lovely 2 night stay in a beautiful and tranquil area , convenient for visiting surrounding areas and our host Carol couldn’t do enough for us.Definitely return in the future. The scenery was amazing . The rooms were immaculate with a lovely outside seating area .

Just home after 3 days at Aspen Lodge in Oban. It is a very quiet and relaxing spot and the views from the veranda were amazing. It is situated on the NCN78 cycle route from Oban to Taynuilt so an ideal spot for exploring the area. We took the ferry to Lismore, cycled up the island and then caught the ferry to Port Appin. The route back to Oban is on amazing cycle tracks. Carol was an amazing host and catered to our every need. Look forward to returning.

We wanted to experience local, off the beaten trail sites....Carol is a master of getting you to places you have dreamed of. Can't wait to return!

We had a most fabulous stay at Aspen Lodge in Oban with spectacular mountain scenery from our balcony. Carol was a most wonderful host whom my son had a wonderful time chatting with her about whisky as she used to work in Oban Distillery. She gave him a lot of tips about whisky and also talked about her family who were also in the whisky business. There are 2 ways of getting to Aspen Lodge - one via the rolling hills with animals and highland cows roaming freely and the other route was via a golf club., Our GPS took us via the rolling hills route and at one stage we seemed to getting away farther and farther so panicked and turned back. Luckily, we met a lady along the way who came across Aspen Lodge signage and told us to go back the way we went and assured us it was the right track. Once we reached Aspen Lodge, our breath was taken away by the magnificent room decor and gorgeous mountain scenery. We had a balcony and it was so relaxing to sit outside and admire and enjoy the scenery. My son even did his stretching exercises on the balcony. One morning, we had breakfast on the terrace just to soak in the view. The decor is very classy and tastefully furnished with an amazing bathroom. We made a trip by foot passenger ferry to Isle of Mull and for those thinking of bringing the car onto the ferry, please book your car in advance (vehicle registration number is required). We went as a passenger (without the car) and when we arrived, took the bus from the ferry terminal to Tobermory (where my son joined a whisky distillery tour). You need to decide how long you want to stay in Tobermory which has some nice shopping along the shore so that you can decide when to book the return ferry (need to factor in the 40/45m bus ride from Tobermory to the ferry terminal to catch the return ferry to Oban. Isle of Mull is very and if have the car can drive around and even stay over. Another island to visit is Kerrera which is all waking in a circular trail or you can rent bicycles from a shed (saw this on Youtube). A good and lovely place for lunch short distance away from Oban on the way to Portree is Poppies Cafe., Lovely cafe by the lake and food is also nice. I would highly recommend Aspen Lodge and Carol is a wonderful host who is very nice to chat with and will offer ideas and suggestions to make your stay at Oban a most memorable one, starting first and foremost with her awesome hospitality. We left behind a bag of clothes and Carol quickly messaged us and luckily, we were still in Oban, so went back to collect, thanks to her quick service!

Amazing place regarding the location and Carol and Bobby were the perfect hosts. Breakfast was plentiful, high quality and cooked with love by Carol. The bedroom Stalker is so comfortable. We will come back when we are back in Oban. A great base to visit the Western Highlands

I spent 5 weeks in Scotland (8 nights at Aspen Lodge) and the time at Aspen Lodge with Carol & Bobby were the most caring, fun, stunning and relaxing one I had. 10 minutes by car from Oban, this little gem is located in the middle of nature where you hear nothing but birds and sheep and see nothing but the Highlands. Carol & Bobby have both a huge knowledge about the area and Scotland overall. And please start to talk to Carol about Whisky. Doesn’t matter if you like Whisky or not, but she knows A LOT of great stories around it and is an expert in this field. The honesty bar in the breakfast room might be a good entry point for that. :-) They both are born hosts (and Jacky too!) and even went the extra mile for me. Carol organized a sunscreen for me, prepared a lunchbox because I couldn’t eat breakfast and Bobby brought me once a dinner from the Thai when they anyway grabbed dinner for themselves. The rooms are very spacious with an extra sitting area. From the rooms Duart and Stalker you have a stunning view over the hills and you can even have breakfast on your porch. Kilchurn doesn’t have the grand view but if you are lucky with the weather and can sit outside, you have a big table with the same view for yourself! These 8 nights with you Carol & Bobby have been just amazing and a big treasure from my time in Scotland. Thank you for all you have done. I felt so welcomed and taken care of. A sincere THANK YOU!

It’s a great property in a beautiful location. The absence of a common lounge means that whilst there you are confined to the bedroom. There is a dining room which functions well. Outside areas are exposed and in inclement weather cannot be used.
