Heron Cay Lakeview Bed & Breakfast

What a unique property! From the eclectic decor (an antiques and collectible lovers dream!), to the well appointed guest rooms to the delicious breakfast. Not a detail missed. Wished we had some time to lounge by the pool! The property is gorgeous inside and out. A short stroll to downtown and the lovely shops and restaurants. A gem of a find. We will definitely be back.

The house is so charming and the vibe is pure kindness. Mrs Margie is super sweet and everyone there helping her is as wonderful. We loved Mrs Jody’s sense of humor! The two puppies are just a dream and the property is so clean and well maintain. Breakfast was delicious! If we go back we will stay at Heron Cay again.

The grounds were absolutely gorgeous for Plein Air painting! The proprietor couldn’t have been nicer. The wonderful dogs were a great bonus. Of course the massive Highwaymen paintings were absolutely amazing!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. This lodge sparkles like a diamond. It belongs in a Disney World theme park. Without a doubt, Heron Cay Lakeview B & B is dreamy – a post card fairytale, especially at night. Sleeping Beauty or Snow White would be quite at home. Margie accomplished that for us. She served up a great breakfast, gave us some history on the B & B and the Mount Dora community, and then took us on a quick tour of her property. Margie’s a great hostess. Our room was comfortable, clean, and beautifully decorated – as is the rest of the house. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with exotic plants and trees. Looking at the house, one can easily see it is extremely well built and well-maintained. Since it was built as a bed and breakfast, the layout, flow, and design of the rooms maximizes comfort. . . . cannot say enough about the peace and quiet and the overall experience. First class all the way!

It was the perfect get away at Mt. Dora, FL. The Heron Cay was absolutely lovely and the hotel owner was so kind and gracious. The grounds around the pool area were a tropical garden paradise. Mt. Dora is a wonderful small town . We will be back!

Maggie was a great hostess. The breakfasts were wonderful & it was very convenient to downtown. We really enjoyed the Highwaymen Art Show, which Maggie sponsors twice a year, in January & August. Our room was very spacious with a small refrigerator in the closet. It was a very pleasant stay!

This stately property is very comfortable and a short walk from downtown Mt. Dora. Margie, the hostess, is cordial, helpful and friendly. She had some recommendations of things to do, places to go and best restaurants. She has 2 dogs and a cat... they are well behaved and as pet owners outselves, found it charming. I suppose not everyone would agree. The breakfast "spread" is well done, however there are no "special orders", meaning you get what she prepares, consisting of a large plate of cut fruit, coffee and OJ, some breads and an egg casserole. I asked for a couple of fried eggs prepared over easy and was denied... she said she could not be a short order cook. No milk was available and no cream cheese for the banana bread. The room was spacious and nicely decorated (my wife thought the room was a little "overdone") but it was comfortable. The bed may have been a little soft for some people... I prefer a hard mattress, but was fine. We were on the third floor with a view of the pool and a partial view of Lake Dora. Only two flights of stairs... no elevator. The grounds are lovely, though somewhat overgrown and in need to some TLC... but the upkeep on a property like this is no easy task and certainly not cheap. This would likely be a "stay here again" place if we ever make it back to Mt. Dora.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE , THIS IS THE PLACE YOU WANT TO STAY AT MOUNT DORA.IT IS A WALKING DISTANCE FROM THE CENTER D/T...LOCATION & SERVICE IS GREAT..ROOMS ARE COZY AND CLEAN AND BREAKFAST SERVED IS GREAT... MARGIE THE OWNER IS EXEPTIONAL ...VERY RECOMMENDED.

Very charming home in a great location. We had a large room on the third floor and slept very comfortably. Host Margie was warm and friendly- provided a hearty breakfat for our two nights. A great birthday treat!
