Ibis Montpellier Centre Polygone

Bien situé a 3mn de la Comédie. Chambre propre. Tv, bon wifi, clim/chauffage. Mauvaise insonorisation. Pas de prise de courant près du lit. Pas de bouilloire. Séparation entre la chambre et les toilettes/douche est vraiment pas bien.

Plutôt convaincant.

Title says it all to be honest. The staff were lovely and very helpful and the location is great very close to the historic centre of Montpellier and to be fair the towels were fluffy!. The hotel on the other hand needs a renovation. Grotty, dark, dank and in need of some serious love. The laminate floor in my room was all rutted, the curtains had holes in them, the walls were covered in mysterious marks. There is no ensuite bathroom, its just in the corner of the room. Apparently there is meant to be a curtain but my room 517 didn't have one, and there is no blind for the small window in the bathroom area, so I was woken up early. There are lots of hotels in the centre of Montpellier so would strongly advice you to book somewhere else

The lobby area is OK and the location was good. The room was small and a strange shape. There was paintwork missing. The room was on the highest air con setting but still too hot which made sleeping really horrible. There was an uncomfortable chair by a small desk. The electrical sockets were in stupid places where you couldn’t reach them. The shower area was very small. The shower cubicle was small and the shower was efficient but despite positioning it in the right direction the floor was completely soaked. The breakfast was average with some choices but not brilliant. Boiled eggs needed more cooking than was stated and the bread was not nice. I had a cold and asked for some tissues for the room before I went to bed but they refused to give them to me. I do not recommend this hotel.

Stay was nice. Hotel was clean and close to everything. Public transportation easy to access.

Parking was great and so was the location. The room was a bit shabby is all.

Check in was friendly although one of the receptionists didn't speak very clearly which was challenging as my French is passable but far from fluent. The room was a decent size but the toilet/bathroom was small without a door- just a curtain. We intended to go out for an evening meal but as we were about to leave there was a very, very heavy downpour of rain. Reception saw is and offered us the loan of an umbrella which was really nice of them but we decided we didn't want to go out in the rain so we had a snack in the restaurant. The waiter was very friendly, efficient and helpful. We were tied after a long drive so were quite happy to stay in really but a cheerful waiter was really welcome. We went into the city centre the following morning and the hotel is really well situated for the central Square of Montpellier (Place de la Comedie). Finding the hotel when digging into Montpellier was a nightmare though because of road closures and the one way system and this would put me off returning unless traveling by train. Be warned if driving though that you need an emissions certificate from the City authorities which you need to have planned before you start your journey. You can't register online and be covered as you need to allow time for the physical certificate to arrive. If traveling from another country, this could take days off even weeks and you're liable for a €68 fine if you're spotted.

Well located, nice staff

The A/C was terrible. I literally sweat buckets just sitting in the room. I asked to change rooms at 1 am because I couldn't sleep but hotel's all booked. I asked for them to fix it. Told no problem. Next morning, I reminded them. When I returned in afternoon, it's still miserable. I asked and the woman who came into my room at 1 am totally forgot that she had done it. She grabs a log of complaints and goes to a day manager who apparently told her the A/C was fine. I am from Las Vegas and that I am sweating miserably is not right.
