We came to the Riu palace for a total chill out for a week. It was exactly that. Great location. Brand new hotel. Great facilities. Fabulous food. Rooms are lovely and very friendly attentive staff. You also get to use the facilities of the Rui Turquoise family hotel next door.

10 of us, 5 families all had a great time. Excellent air conditioned rooms, wonderful choice of food in different areas, full board, lots of swimming pools or the sea, and lovely to just dit and watch the kite surfers and wind surfers. Very attentive staff and always smiling. Always busy, gardening, cleaning and serving you. Evening entertainments and no children

My partner and I stayed 10 nights. It was indeed a very beautifully refurbished hotel which is a shame because I do regret so much booking this hotel, here is why: 1. The hotel beach: is a kite and windsurfing area. As we walked along the beach leaving the hotel to the public beach next door the wind was much calmer. Meaning the wind only blows that strong in that specific area in both hotels Riu Turquoise and Riu Palace. Is fair to say, on sunny days the wind stopped thanks god but I would not take my chances again and just go to a normal hotel. 2. Service: There is no service at all. You have to get up and order everything you want as there is no table service so you can’t just relax you got constantly go and order at the bar queue up and all sorts! 3. Bars: “CAPPUCCINO Bar” opens at 10am so a “coffee bar” that does not offer coffee early morning? Also, the bakery was steal every time I tried. So, no coffee before 10am unless you go to the breakfast buffet and have the instant coffee (not a fan). “Pool bar” opens at 10am again can’t order either a coffee or a drink and very low music there is no ambience. “Sports bar” is for both hotels which means if you’re adults only from Riu Palace there might be kids at the bar from Riu turquoise. 4. WiFi: it was very good but we got disconnected before we actually left so is pretty silly to do that when we rely on WiFi in that country honestly unnecessary. 5. Entertainment: there is nothing to do when there is no sun. “Sports bar” has 1 pool table btw the 2 hotels that has such a large capacity… Common! So, on top of strong wind in the hotel area, we have nothing else to do when the weather is bad. No other table games, tennis or paddle court or something/anything. 6. Staff - Pros: The hotel has lovely staff, polite and with good intentions. Reception was very nice when we got our flights cancelled 2 times and gave us late check out. The courtesy rooms are also lovely touch. - Cons: although staff are hard working and try their best, unfortunately they do things wrong all the time, which really tainted our experience. Opening the door and walking into our room straight after knocking a few times. Miss-placing our luggage and sending us to the wrong room. Not filling up the soap. No filling up the mini bar. Not making our cards properly having to go back to reception after walking all the way to room. Etc. I believe better training, maybe better management. For example: On our first morning they were cutting the grass next to our room, we were confused why we waking up to such a noises but ignored, got ready and went breakfast to arrive there they started cutting the grass next to us. I immediately told the waiter to please stop that during breakfast that finishes at 10:00am can’t they wait? After that I saw the gardeners attempting to cut the grass next to breakfast and I saw how the waiters told them not to do it. So, my advice was taken which was great, but a normal management would advise

Riu Le monde (before palace it was called le monde). I was always amazed by its calmness without any spoil brats screaming around. So I got in touch with a local agency and I would recommend you book directly with the hotel it’s way more easier and they will be able to respond more directly since there is no third party. After booking it I began to regret my decision based on what I see online. Then days went by I decided to give it a try. We arrived at the hotel, I could see very few staff at the reception and one person a very kind gentleman jog to us and greet us with a warm smile and offer to take in our bags. There I left it and went to park my car. I gave them all my information and was offered two glass of champagne where you never get that in a four star hotel ! I had been given cheap infused water in top 5 five stars hotel in Mauritius. So a big thumbs up for that! Before I began I would like you readers to understand that this hotel is called Riu palace, its a four star hotel on the edge of Lemonde. I was given a map and well explained by Vickesh on the reception. I wanted to dine in the fine dinning restaurant so we chooses steakhouse and Bangalore. ( You have to book atleast 48 hours in advance so you have to stay 4 days so you are able to do this). And we went to our room to freshen up. The property is new, fresh and modern. It is one of the hotel that have the concept of the hotel in the future more about a self service hotel. Its more of an approach to the future. The floors have elevators which is just marvelous for any kind of people. The room has got a built in bathroom , toilet together with a fresh look and lots of light for the ladies. The only bad thing about the room is that the beds are two beds joint together and a bit annoying when you move a lot in the bed. The balcony is wide open with a beautiful view but rooms on the corners might cause an issue where you could see in other people rooms. I guess a tinted terrace window should do the trick. You are provided with two incline chairs, ashtray and a hanger for wet clothes. Back in the bathroom, it is very clean with no mould. Do not worry about shampoo, gels etcs it of all good quality and way better than five stars in Mauritius. As we went through the hotel, you simply cannot complain for not having enough of food or drinks. Plenty of high quality pastry I was actually amazed by the capucino bar and VINOD was amazing during his service. Well manner person with a touch of good humor. The cakes were amazing and the coffees, hot chocolate really up to the level presented. The place itself is chic, up to date design with every detailed cared for. We proceed to the pools, don’t forget your two towel cards and the in build bar. As drinks you have lots of cocktails and mocktails, coffee, lassi, tea, Heineken, pheonix beer, chamarel rhum( premium rum of mru), some various brands too. Throughout the day you get snacks at pepe outlet till 17pm I think then you hav

The hotel is brand new and really attractively fitted out. The staff are friendly, approachable and hard working. Huge variation of food in the buffet, all really tasty. We e also eaten in the Steakhouse, elite club restaurant, Bangalore and the Asian fusion....we've not had a bad meal. The Elite club pool is very attractive and calm with plenty of Bali beds, so relaxing. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. A huge distance to travel from the UK for a week but it's been very worth it!

Beautiful hotel. foods great. Heard there were some teething troubles on opening, but it’s a brand new hotel with a lot of new staff, so it’s a learning curve for all of them. They’re a great team who are all doing their best. If we’ve had an issue or request, it’s been dealt with immediately. It’s winter here now, so we can appreciate the weather may be a bit changeable, beaches are lovely. The site has been newly planted up, so will take time to establish. Come and have a great time, but be a bit patient sometimes, we’re all human.
