Wonderful and professional reception at arrival, with a welcome, a smile, and a coffee, by the owner Mariangela. She took great care of us and kept us well informed. The structure as such is dwelled into the mountain but clean and minimalistic.

Le Dimore Dell’Idris is located on an exquisite location, making it perfect for exploring the surrounding area. The staff are kind and professional, enhancing the overall experience. However, the amenities leave much to be desired. The towels are extremely cheap, and the bathroom only offers plastic glasses. Basic toiletries like soap, shower gel, and shampoo are of very low quality. Same for the bed and the pillows. Bedlinen is good quality though. The air conditioning in my Suite did not work well; it was over 30 degrees in the room the first night and only managed to cool down to 25 degrees on the second night. The furniture, primarily from Ikea style and made of plywood, gives the rooms a budget feel that doesn’t match the hotel's exterior look. Overall, while the location and staff are excellent, and the room is very clean, the cheap amenities, poor air conditioning, and furnishings detract from the experience. Improving these aspects could make this hotel truly exceptional.

This hotel was fantastic. My partner and I booked a cave suite and the room was stunning. The room was spotless and had some superb features including a stand alone bath and steam room. The location is perfect, placed along side the valley with stunning views all around. Restraunts, bars and tourist attractions are a stone throw away. The cave suite is nestled adjacent to a bacillica. Finally the staff were more than helpful, Maria-angela really gave us the 5 star treatment. Attending to our every need, including ensuring we had dinner reservations for the evening. The staff organised transfers and parking for us prior to arrival. This really made the trip hassle free. Finally, breakfast was limited but the food was delicious. Take a table outside if you are an animal lover as some of small local birds will visit your table. All round an amazing experience. We have been touring Italy and this hotel is by far the highlight of out trip.

We were looking forward to staying in a cave, but we were not sure what to expect. Would it be primitive? Rustic? Basic, with no amenities? Everything was perfect from the time we were dropped off by a taxi to the time we left. When we arrived, staff jumped into action to get our bags moved up to reception, and once we were checked in, our bags were quickly in our rooms. The people at reception were very helpful with recommendations, a map, and directions. The hotel is in a great location within walking distance of all the major points of interest in the old city. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed and quality linens. The bath was a little small, but it was adequate for our one night stay. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast on the terrace with the friends we were traveling with. We would stay here again without hesitation.

Lovely location and very friendly welcome hosts. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the breakfast was delicious. Matera is an incredible city and we only had one night there which was too short.

We are so pleased we found and chose this place for the first stop on our honeymoon. The location is fantastic, our favourite part of Matera in turns out, with great views and places to eat and drink close by. The room was immaculate and such an experience being in a cave. The staff were super attentive and helpful and the breakfast was delicious. Perfect stay!

Great location, beautiful room with kind and friendly staff. Stylish property in the heart of the city. Great breakfast with a diverse selection of fresh fruit, local pastries and healthy options. I really appreciate the attentive service and meticulously maintained property.

2 notti fantastiche in una grotta...una favola... Ottima sistemazione tra i sassi di Matera, in pieno centro storico....la nostra grotta si trovava esattamente sotto la chiesa della Madonna dell'Idris ed il soffitto della nostra dimora è parte del pavimento della chiesa.... Camera fantastica....pulizia impeccabile e colazione eccellente...

Albergo diffuso nei Sassi di Matera: la location è davvero incantevole. Tutto è veramente curato nei minimi dettagli. Il personale è gentilissimo e super attento alle esigenze del cliente, ci hanno dato degli ottimi consigli per visitare i Sassi e prenotato un tour in calessino che è stato davvero pazzesco! 😍 Qui sanno davvero che cosa significhi ospitalità. Colazione con vista sui Sassi e di ottima qualità, mi hanno fatto trovare una vasta scelta anche di prodotti senza glutine. Tutto perfetto, non avremmo potuto fare una scelta migliore a Matera. 🫶🏼 Super consigliato!
