It was my first trip to Maldives & i picked Alila, love both the room interior and exterior. Food was surprisingly good 😍 Me and my bf enjoyed alot here!

The hotel has very good food options and all are very well made. The staffs are very attentive and friendly, always coming to chat with us and giving advice on activities and history of Maldives. I’m The hotel offers good variety of water sports so that we won’t get bored. The sand is fine on the beach and the water quality is very suitable for snorkelling. We can easily find lots of fish by swimming a hundred meters from the shore. We tried SPAs, table tennis, snooker, gym facilities. We joined scuba diving, fishing and they were all very well organised. The only shortfall is the pest problem. Lots of mosquitoes caused serious problems at the beginning. The staff should have warned guests seriously about this so that we can get prepared (closing doors and apply repellant) otherwise you will get really bad bites by various bugs. We stayed at beach villa and every night it’s like a battle of all kinds of bugs - gigantic cockroaches, snails, worms, caterpillars, flies, lizards, spiders, red ants and sand bugs. I even found one flying ant in bed one night. This really ******* me during the entire trip.

Just wanted to give a shoutout to exceptional service provided by Yakitori here. Alex was attentive and friendly, making our dining experience truly enjoyable. The mocktail Chanaka made was not only beautifully crafted but also tasted fantastic. Thanksfor such a wonderful experience!

We just got back from our second stay at Alila Kothaifaru Maldives (our first was last May), and honestly—it felt like coming home. We’ve been dreaming about this place since we left last year, and it somehow managed to be even better the second time around. From the start, the whole team made us feel so welcomed—like old friends coming back to visit. They remembered our preferences, were incredibly attentive to all our requests, and went out of their way to make everything feel personalized and easy. The food and drinks were absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and always beautifully presented. And the sundowner experience? Pure magic. We still smile every time we think about it. One of the highlights this time was the massage at the spa—we walked out feeling like a million bucks. The masseuses are extremely professional and clearly masters of their craft. We felt totally relaxed and refreshed afterward. Another unique and thoughtful touch was the back-of-house tour they offer in the staff quarters. Not all resorts are willing to show that side of things, and it really gave us a deeper appreciation for the people who work so hard to make each guest’s experience so special. It was eye-opening and meaningful to see where the team lives and how the island operates behind the scenes. We even got invited to their futsal competition, which was such a fun and unexpected experience! Big thanks to Mr. Thomas, the GM, whose leadership really shines through. You can tell he believes in letting the team grow and succeed in their own authentic way. We’re especially grateful to Halu, Dante, and Bilhy for their kindness and attention. Sandip, the bartender, was always on point with great drinks and a warm smile. And Kavi, the DJ, nailed the vibe every night—he’s incredibly talented and even remembered our favorite songs! Huge shoutout to the wonderful concierge team—Niya and Azim—for always being so polite and thoughtful, and to the amazing restaurant and bar team: Cobra, Selli, Agnes, Ayu, Joana, Yaseer, Zayan, and so many others who made us feel truly pampered. Maldivian hospitality is already something special, but Alila takes it to the next level. There’s such a genuine warmth and sincerity here—from every staff member to the overall management. It really feels like we’ve found our home away from home, and we can’t wait to come back again soon.

What a wonderful experience at Alila Maldives. The pristine beaches, spacious villas with beautiful decor, the amazing choice of food & cocktails, boat trips to see 100’s of dolphins, relaxed atmosphere with exceptional staff all made our 7 nights dream holiday come true. Our favourite spot was lunch & dinner at Yakatori with outstanding service every time from Arya, Chanaka & Alex. All the staff at Alila work really hard but the ones who helped our trip to be so enjoyable with their endless & intuitive warmth of service were the guys at Yakatori & Sandeep & Uput at the pool, beach & bar. Nothing was too much trouble for Sandeep & Uput & we never had to wait long for anything. Our amazing house manager Sull also worked tirelessly to ensure our whole trip went smoothly. Thank you 5 star Sull! Their positivity is infectious……..Thank you team Alila.

Wonderful stay at Alila Maldives property! The service was outstanding, and the property is truly stunningly beautiful. It never felt crowded, and I loved the personal touch that each staff member provided. The staff remembered your name and even what drinks you like. One of the best resort stays I have ever had. We stayed for 6 nights and were not ready to leave. We added the all-inclusive packages. I'm not sure if it saved money at the end of the day, but it was nice not having to think about your bill or if you should get another drink or not! My only minor suggestions to make it EVEN better would be: have a buggy that circles the island providing rides. (Sometimes our wait for our host was slightly long.) Have a dedicated server at the pool. The Mirus bar staff was outstanding (special thanks to Sandip!). However, it would have been a nice touch to have someone coming by more frequently to ask if we needed anything. With that being said (for future guests), it's not a long walk from the pool to the bar. And once you order a drink, the staff was very attentive. I would not hesitate to recommend Alila Maldives!

This was the third visit since 2023, with a visit to Alila Kotai Paru every year. The room condition and facilities are perfect, and the lagoon and underwater environment are excellent. Especially, I can't forget the excellent service of Yakitoriba's employees. We were the only Koreans who visited during the ***** New Year, but Chanaka, alex, and arya of Yakitoriba carefully took care of our couple. I want to come back next year even because of them. Taste and service are the best on Earth. You must eat poke and yakitori when you come here.

This is a honeymoon trip my husband and I will forever look back on fondly. The property, with its modern design and touch of sustainability, is exactly what we were looking for in a luxury resort. January is their peak season, and it seemed like the resort was operating at full capacity, but it never really felt busy except during breakfast. The resort offers a lot of activities through the water sports center and the dive center. We enjoyed the fishing trip we went on, but aside from that, we spent our time snorkeling in the mornings, playing games (pool, ping pong, and padel), and relaxing in our villa. We waited until the last day to visit the spa, which I definitely regret as they offer so many different options we would have loved to explore earlier. There are definitely small details that could be improved by management (e.g., the exposed sandbags near the main pool and the northern side of the island between the jetty and the yakitori bar, as well as the construction on the water villa boardwalk that sometimes blocked buggy access). All in all, the general facilities and amenities are in great condition, but that’s not what made it such a memorable and heartfelt experience for us. For us, it was the people who work there that made the experience so special. Breakfast was at Seasalt every morning. Agnes would always greet us at the door and was so considerate and thoughtful when suggesting seating options, especially when we felt indecisive. A gentleman, whose name I didn’t catch, remembered my request for white pepper with my congee and brought it to me without my having to ask the next time. Sellii is absolutely sweet and delightful to talk to. We loved and miss seeing Sandip and his big grin greeting us every day before or after breakfast at the Mirus Bar. It became our routine to visit him to start our day, and he always had something delicious or wise to offer us. I’d suggest ordering a “Sandip Special” from him—it will never disappoint! We also loved the vibe at the yakitori bar. We didn’t stop by until later in our stay and wish we had met Arya sooner. We initially went there for a light dinner but ended up spending the rest of the evening enjoying the amazing skewers he prepared and the wine he poured. We loved it so much that we had the fish we caught during our fishing trip prepared at Seasalt and sent to the yakitori bar so we could enjoy the tranquility and Arya’s delightful company. Make sure to ask him about his artwork—you’ll be in for a treat! We also enjoyed our dinner at Umani, and I’d recommend ordering the “Taste of Umani” to explore their signature dishes. We met Nee and Saahii while dining there, and they were super personable and delightful as well. The resort also offers complimentary nighttime activities that provide insight into the culture and history of the Maldives. Great room and great experience overall. We slept well. My family with young kids loved it. Golf carts and personal host were great touches. Kids couldn't get enough of the Kid's Club. Only downside is the insanely expensive food and you pay even more if you book with your World of Hyatt member points which is disappointing.

However, our experience at Alila Kothaifaru was hands down the best stay we’ve ever had—especially for what we were optimizing for: a place to truly relax, unwind, and feel at home. What made Alila stand out: 1. The staff and service: The heart of this resort is its people. The team here doesn’t just treat their work as a job—it’s clearly a passion, and they go above and beyond to make every moment special. • Yakitori Bar: Chanaka, Alex, Arya, and Bily crafted some of the most inventive cocktails we’ve ever taste with a Japanese twist, and their kindness and attentiveness made every visit memorable. They even took the time to teach us how to make their signature drinks! • Scuba Center: Cami and Fernanda were phenomenal instructors and divemasters who made our diving experience unforgettable. I got my Open Water Certification, and my husband completed his Advanced Certification during our stay. They had a knack for spotting incredible marine life—manta rays, sharks, and more—and their expertise and warmth made every dive an adventure. • Mirus Bar: Sandip and Loudhy were wonderful and their service was top-notch. They always remembered our names and preferences, making us feel so welcome. - shout out also to our villa host, Nasse, who was always incredibly responsive and accommodating to our requests. 2. The house reef: The house reef was healthy and full with marine life, with an abundance of coral and marine life right at our doorstep. We even spotted a Manta ray whilst snorkelling, and Dolphins swimming by came within a 10 meters of us on 2 separate occasions! 3. The Food We thoroughly enjoyed the food. Breakfast was delicious and had rotating options for different types of freshly made “pancakes” – from Crepes, to Dosa’s, to (our favourite) Croffles – to die for. For Lunch there were lots of fresh and light options (as well as really good Pizza and pastas) and our favourite spot for Dinner became Yakitori Bar, where the team kindly also can bring you food from Umami (the higher-end Japanese restaurant on the island). 4. The property itself: The resort is newly opened, and it shows—everything is fresh, clean, and beautifully maintained. The large pool, with its stunning sunset views, quickly became one of our favorite spots to relax. How it compares to other luxury resorts: While the Ritz is undeniably a tier above in terms of sheer opulence, we found that the “poshness” sometimes came at the cost of feeling truly at ease. At Alila, there’s a perfect balance of luxury and relaxation. The service here is just as exceptional, but it feels warmer, more personal, and less formal.
